Title: what are the odds Post by ivanov on Sep 14th, 2004, 12:29am After 32 years of trying to deal with these headeaches 23 of those years chronic I decided to try on a limited basis to work part time. During the last few years I have not been able to do much of anything. So I am about to launch my fine art website right. My family name and the name of the site is Ivanov. My web hosting company is located in Pensacola Fl. Guess what hurricane is heading right at Pensacola. I need all the vibes and luck you guys can spare. You can see the site at www.designartz.com before it ends up in Oz. Ivanov |

Title: Re: what are the odds Post by floridian on Sep 14th, 2004, 9:59am Excellent artwork. Worry is natural, but this thing will pass through and life will eventually get back to normal. Just stay safe. There are ways to copy your site to a remote computer - Unix meisters have a tool called wget that will do a remote backup to another computer. Not sure if it would get everything if you have fancy server-side scripting, but it would preserve much of the site. Do you need that done? I could do it tonight when I get home. |

Title: Re: what are the odds Post by ivanov on Sep 14th, 2004, 2:25pm I am trying to get hold of the web designer who wrote the code for the site I think he told me he backed up the site on disk. He still has to complete some work on the site so if it goes down hopefully he can restore it. I better spend some time learning how to do this myself. All my time was spent on the design aspect and not the mechanical. |

Title: Re: what are the odds Post by ivanov on Sep 14th, 2004, 8:24pm Thanks Floridan, It would not hurt to have a backup on my firewire drive just in case the worst scenario happens. Dan |

Title: Re: what are the odds Post by JDH on Sep 14th, 2004, 11:41pm Very impressive Ivanov, I hope you do well on your new endeavor. I don't understand what you mean by "digitally hand painted" but I like it a lot. Supposedly the storm is going to back down a little before it hits so the fingers are crossed. WTG Floridian, you da man! Jim |

Title: Re: what are the odds Post by ivanov on Sep 15th, 2004, 12:09am Digitally hand painted means that the artwork was drawn and painted using virtual media oils, pastels ect with a digitalized drawing board on the computer. Two years ago I converted my art studio from traditional media to mostly electronic. Sometimes I render some parts in the computer and some by traditional media depending on what feel I want the painting to have. |
