I wasn't sure where to put this post, so I thought that maybe I'd start it here and it can be moved if need be.

At work today, we were dicussing childhood ailments, and it dawned on me, that from the time I was about 6 months old, till I was probably 9 or 10, I had some sort of mystery disorder of body temperature. I could spike fevers af 106 out of the blue for a few hours at a time and then they would subside. Doctors never did find the cause of these sudden fevers. No infections, no viruses they pinpoint. Just a few hours of very high fever and then boom, as fast it came on it was gone.

Now the Hypothalamus not only regulates out internal clock, but also is the body temperature control center.

I'm guessing...and it's only a guess here...that maybe this was an early signal to a dysfunctional hypothalamus. Even when I had meningitus at 13 years old my fever was never that high, and I do run normally a few degrees lower than 98.6.

Anyonje care to add to this, or share any strange hypothalamic activity in your past medical histories?

I ran high fevers off and on until I was about age 2, so I am told, due to pnuemonia.

My normal body temp is about 1.5 degrees below normal.

I wonder how many other ch sufferers have lower than normal body temps? [smiley=huh.gif]

My body runs on the "hot" side of the scale. This is very interesting, Peggy, I was just thinking about how, some people are "cold natured" and others are "hot blooded" I wonder if all of the "hot" episodics like me, cycle in the winter and those that are cold, cycle in the summer, just a thought I was having...........

My "normal" body temp is lower than average.

This hypothalmus thing is so.......esoteric. I mean.....has anybody actually SEEN one? Oh, sure, floridian will be here in a second, wiith graphs, clinical studies, validated statistics and four double blind studies......but where's the fun in that?

My body temp is normal ... it's my head that's not ! ;;D

My body temperature has always been 97.6, some time it won't even register on thermometer. Since I became chronic ( when my cycle went over a year ) my temp has gone up to normal but I am hot all the time. I prefer air temps in the low 60's.

I am usually hot all the time as well with body temp usually around 97. [smiley=huh.gif]

Wow, I didn't know puberty started at the age of 6 months and lasted for 9 years.

I had febrile seizures until I was 3 or 4 years old and outgrew them. I've always been warm-natured, especially when I'm sleeping. Most of the time, I can't stand to have blankets on me at all, and my wife comments that sleeping in the same bed with me is like sleeping next to a blast-furnace. LOL
