Title: Good ER visit Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 12th, 2004, 2:18pm We all need to hear stories of Good ER visits once in awhile so we don't think they're ALL bad. Went to the ER at Jefferson last night...which is actually where I used to work last summer. Was there about 8 hours..went in at 1:30am for severe headache (migraine at that point) after 3 clusters. Nothing was helping. First was given O2 via nasal cannula till the doc came in and had it switched to the mask. Did that for 20 minutes. Got toradol, reglan, DHE, depacon, zofran, and a litre of fluids. Left with a headache at about a 5 or 6. The neuro was a little strange (maybe just tired??) but he was pretty good. Wanted to admit, but I can't miss clinical. Maybe in March when I have spring break. The ER resident was very nice, and so was the nurse I had. They know how to treat headaches here...probably because connected to a headache center. :) I had a long wait after seeing the neuro resident until they gave me the zofran and depacon, but I finally fell asleep at about 6 am because the meds made me tired. Plus got a new O2 mask now because they would have just thrown it out after I left, and it's paid for in my bill anyhow! Just thought I'd share. Really tired now, but I'll have to get out of bed soon and do some laundry before the next 6 day week starts! Luv you guys...and Chris (purpley) thanks for the messages that I got when I got home. :) Lizzie :) |

Title: Re: Good ER visit Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 13th, 2004, 8:49am Thanks for the messages! I slept a lot when I got home yesterday, and I wound up not doing my laundry or anything else for that matter! I watched a lot of movies and football. Then I got the bright idea to walk 10 blocks down to the water front and then 10 blocks back. By the time I got back, I seriously felt like I was 80 years old! I just felt really tired and out of breath. So not right for my age. I realized I'm not being active enough because of the pain most of the time! So I'm going to at least start taking walks every day, and then maybe I will work up to the treadmill or swimming! haha The headaches started getting bad again around 9pm or so last night, which made me upset. And getting anxious about the pain coming back made my stomach upset. grrrrrrrr So now I'm going to take a walk because it is only 67 here right now and soon it will be 80 out! I don't have clinical until 4:30 tonight until 11. Sorry to ramble LOL I just woke up so I'm not really awake yet to think clearly! :) |
