Grenada and the smaller islands of the Grenadines got falttened by Hurricane Ivan yesterday.
Francis was a premature baby compared to the force that Ivan went through at. Any help, thoughts prayers for these good people would be most welcome.
This brings back chilling memories of Hurricane Louis that hit us in 95

Ivan looks like it is going be a big one. Hopes and prayers to all our friend there.

Karma, I'm a little confused and not a geography student. Your profile says you live in St. Maarten, Netherlands. When did St. Maarten move to the Netherlands? I thought it was in the Pacific Ocean or the Caribbean.

St. Maarten is part of the Netherland Antilles and is in the Caribbean, about 100 miles East of the U.S. Virgin islands and about 95 miles North West of Antigua. Right at the top and to the right of the chain of Caribbean islands.
This site had no St. Maarten flag so the dutch flag was as close as I could get.

St. Lucia had minimul damage They are far enough North that they only had some T.S force winds for awhile and some rain but thats about it.
Trinidad and Tobago and St. Vincent had some more significant damage. Tobago got it almost as bad as Grenada. Grenada and the outlying islands really got whacked all communications are down and I'm sure the they are without power and water, island wide.
Accept for Trinidad, these are all small independent countries that mostly survive on aggriculture and tourism.
