We're ok- We finished up the final step of our big move back to the big bad city this weekend. Dave overdid it, (like he would listen to anyone who told him he was) and is paying the piper today with weakness, exhaustion and major muscle cramping. But we are done, no more back and forth. Now we just have to figure out how to cram all of our "essentials" into this tiny apartment. Once we get the boxes emptied and out of the way, I think it will work fine, just have to get used to having only 1/3 of the space we had before. Our house is for sale, and we each had our tearful moments in the final days of leaving Buena Vista. But, the most important thing is that Dave will be close to medical attention should he have an emergency. He seems to be kind of at some kind of plateau the past couple of weeks.. maybe some of the meds are slowly taking effect- he is still by no means well, and can be pretty scary at times when he suddenly turns paste white and starts to sweat buckets, or maybe fire engine red in the face and still sweating buckets- seems to have no temperature control in his body. He is still losing weight, and still has the incredible shrinking muscle syndrome going on. He goes tomorrow to see a new neuro, who will have the results of his most recent blood tests, and will be ordering more tests to hopefully get closer to finding out just what all this means (maybe).
Meanwhile, we just watch, wait, and pray for better days to come.
We try not to dwell always on what is not good, and try not to post when we're feeling whiney. We thank you all for your concern, and please know that we appreciate every thought, every prayer, and every wish for better health and fortunes. We know what a gift we have in this family, and one day will be in a position to help out more when someone else needs it. Thank you all again, and Carl... keep the flame :) but say a prayer for yourself as well. I know you are having a tough time of it too. You are in my prayers.

Thanks for the updates on Dave. Sorry you had to move, but I am glad you are close to good health care now!! I hope and pray that the good days are more and more frequent and the bad days dwindle away!

Let us pray to the Holy Spirit that He speaks to the docs and directs them to the source and solution of Daves problems.

Let us pray that Annette continues to find the strength and stamina needed for both herself and Dave. Hope you are taking your vitamins, Annette. My sister ended up in the hospital because she didn't take good care of herself when my Bro-in Law was so sick.

Keep on hangin' in there, Dave. I'm encouraged to hear that you are at a plateau now: It means that you aren't getting any worse, so yeah, maybe you're on your way to turning the corner and starting on the road to recovery. I choose to believe that you are, and that your appointment will go well, and that you will be receiving some encouraging news today.

Okay, promised an update,
Not much I can add, saw the new Neuro today and think I overloaded him with too much info. :-/
I gave him a copy of a daily log I've kept since this all started back in late August of 2003. If he reads it, he'll know so much more and possibly be able to help, if not, probably another waste of time. Had another bucket of blood drawn today, some of the things that have been checked by many doctors and a couple new things. Will have another EMG (Happy Happy Joy Joy! :o ) next Wednesday. Looks like I may be having two appointments a week (one with each doc soon), better hurry and come up with something though, getting too weak throughout the body. I probably push myself to do more than they want me to, but ain't no way I'm gona sit back in a chair all day and night waiting to waste away. Doing anything at all somewhat worthwhile makes me feel like I at least have some kind of control. Anyway, back to the good 'ol waiting game :P
So many of you I'd like to get letters out to, trying at least one a day, so please be patient with me. ;)
