Title: Thinking of russia
Post by synergy on Sep 4th, 2004, 9:16am
Cant believe what has happened in russia in the last few days - i feel so bad for the parents and hostages. How people can do this is beyond me - they have no hearts or souls and are dead inside.

Please spare a thought or prayer today for the victims and relatives of the school seige in russia - my heart goes out to them.

Just shows what kind of "people" terrorist really are.

It makes me want to throw up to think that "people" could use, murder and torture children to further their cause.
To see those kids run out of the building in their underwear made me so sad. Another thing I noticed....they were all drinking water desperatley. Those bastards stopped them from eating or drinking.
I hope they go to hell and the devil gives them 7 kip 10's a day with no meds for eternity.
Children should never be involved in grown up issues.

Yeah... More members of the "religion of peace," being such wonderful ambassadors. I live for the day when my daughter asks me, "Daddy? Is it true that there used to be people called Arabs?"

Well - i just read on the BBC news site that the hostages were forced to wee into bottles and then soak their clothes in it. They then drank the urine from the clothes where they were so thirsty. Makes me sick that they could do this - The BBC website has a lot of information about it but the pictures are quite disturbing.

Fucking disgusting. I hope the Russian troops tracked down every last one of those terrorists and killed every single one of them.  >:( Death is too good for those animals.

Ironic.  25 years ago who would have thought that the US & Russia would be combatting a common enemy...

Thoughts to our friends in Russia.

Ya know..I consider myself a peaceful man..But when things like this happen,  I think that employing tactical nuclear weapons on the homes and towns where these terrorists come from is probably a good thing.  Flame me all you want, but these kind of animals only understand violence and nothing will stop them but even more violence. >:(

Reading that story brought to mind a piece of choral music that makes me cry almost every time I sing in a group that performs it or I hear it.

If you ever get the chance, try to download or listen to:

"Salvation Is Created (Spaseniye sodelal)" By Pavel Chesnokov (also spelled Tschesnokoff)

It is amazingly beautiful...and the music (maybe not the words) really fits the sorrow of this story.

Sorry, Mac. I'm just tired of hearing that the enemy doesn't have a face, when all along, yes it does: It wears the face of fundamentalist Islam. I think that everytime a terrorist act is linked to Islam, we need to vaporize a mosque somewhere. I'll bet this "religious war" will come to an end really damn quick, especially when they realize that Mecca is about to be decimated and turned into melted glass.  >:(

It's been a horrble couple of weeks for Russia. Bombed jets, a subway bombing, I think, and now these bottom feeders.

Please don't take this next paragraph the wrong way:

It's not new though, TV is new. As horrible as it is, I hope our family doesn't seal itself off in duct tape and install razor wire. Violence here is down, way down. Cable "news" likes to keep us terrified. It sells.

You've got it, Charlie. Twenty years ago, that news never would have made it out of the USSR.

Wouldn't that be the final solution?

How about the pretty conclusive evidence that the Russians f*ucked it up again!

One crippled submarine full of submariners who could have been saved if they had accepted help from other countries sooner

One cinema siege ended by killing many of the hostages with lethal gas

Now a school siege where, despite having three days to prepare, they failed to cordon off the area so that the unexpected shoot out was hampered by locals taking pot shots with their own weapons and some of the terrorists escaped into the town, and they had such an appalling lack of medical support that dying people were being shoved in the back of cars.
500 people dead, and most of them children. Beyond belief.

Can someone tell me why such phenomenal incompetence can happen and result in so many lives being lost?

And while I'm on my rant, Putin only appears at the scene today, Bush or Blair would have been there from the start, probably uselessly, but they would have been there and making statements to the public about what was happening.

The families have been tramping through the school today, in the USA or here the forensic people would have been in there for days sifting evidence to prosecute the offenders.

Despite how mean it may seem, even a one-man hostage situation here results in a total cordon, no-one in or out, no civilian, even a relative within firing range, let alone parents who are within range and armed!
Specialist units are on scene in minutes and the Russians had days!

I'll shut up now, but even with my limited experience of hostage situations, I know that this was beyond a fuck-up. Russia isn't a Third World country, it has highly trained Special forces and it has experience of dealing with crime and terrorists. What the hell were they playing at?

God help the parents, they were betrayed by their country

I feel so bad for them and their familys. I wish all hate would stop, but I don't guess thats  possiable. I look at my grandson and just want to keep him by my side 24/7 !

I couldn't agree more, Elaine and Pubgirl. What the hell is up with the Russians, lately? As ever, Putin continues to be a wild card: No one really knows what to expect of him, but so far, it seems to be the opposite of the kind of leadership that Russia needs at this juncture in its history.

I think there is a lot of fear at the bottom and top of the pile.  Initiative is rewarded even less over there. Maybe this will improve when some of the old guard retires.

This crap is showing up to a lesser degree. It's hard to get anyone to do anything without consulting "guidelines."  It's depressing and gums up the works. Not everything is in those books.

Actually, Roosevelt had it right: Fear itself is our worst enemy.

This will really backfire on the Chechens, won't it?
It'll be hard for them ever to get any sympathy.
Killing kids is just horrible.
