Title: Internal Clock
Post by Tom K on Sep 3rd, 2004, 12:31pm
Ok, since finding out that these things start with a bad hypothalamus (CH spelling errors) and that they hypo is in control of the body clock, who has a clock that seems out of wack?  One way or the other?  I'm a chef and my clock seems to be way more accurate than other people I know.  Is this related to the hypo or is it just a training thing?  Was just curious to see if anyone else has noticed this in themselves.

My cycles are usually preceded by messed up sleep cycles.  I think that is why melatonin works so well for me, because it helps to "re-set" the clock.

A clock outa wack? That be me.

I work a rotating shift. Days-6 in a row , swings-7 in a row, graveyard-7 in a row, relief days-5 in a row, swing-7 in a row, graveyard-7 in a row, repeat. Change each week. Been doing this for 36+ years. My clock busted a main spring in 1972.

I'm at work right now and it is 2:12am. I left home 3 hours ago. That was Friday, right? Friday was my day off. I left home on my day off to get to work the next day! So today must be Saturday, right?

I started eating pizza for breakfast in 1978. I think that's what caused my clusters.

My sleep gets whacked every summer when long days get shorter.  In that respect, my sense of time is off.  But in terms of estimating how much time passes, I would say I am around average.

On that topic, when I do the shroom thingy my sense of time is ravaged.

With the first dose, we had 3 hours SCREAM by in what seemed like 20 minutes.  Then the next 1 hour crawled to what seemed to be 4 hours.  Some definite slamming of the hypothalathingys reset button was going on.  Complete distortion of time passage.

My internal clock is screwed  :-/

Meletonin won't help either (Wish it would)

Sleep is still a trigger for me. (Every night)
