Title: What's on your desk? (non-CH & photos) Post by Hirvimaki on Sep 1st, 2004, 11:36am I was just sitting here, staring at my work station (obviously getting no work done) and began to wonder what the world of other Clusterheads looks like when they are at the computer... If ya got any pics, share 'em; if ya don't got pics, describe your desk... My work station (Yeah for 21" monitors!): My Zire and Zen (AKA the 411 & Party Pack): Beind my computer is my Bluetooth dongle (Damn, that is a GREAT word...) which keeps me connected to the outside world: And always within in reach: Hirvimaki ;;D |

(non-CH & photos) Post by Jeepgun on Sep 1st, 2004, 11:48am 19" monitor with a photo of Mojave Desert, my disgustingly black and unwashed coffee cup, piles of papers, photos of the Mojave, a model of a Jeep Rubicon, with hood, doors, and tailgate that open, and real suspension, a pewter dragon with wings spread, a photo of my daughter, and on the wall, my honorable discharge certificate, my Expert Field Medical Badge certificate, and my certificate for qualification and membership in MENSA. Piles of books, papers, and precision ground stainless heat-treated components for nozzles that are used in injection molding of thermoplastics, and the newsletter from the Electrostatics Society of America. But you were on the right track... This young lady... ...is Finnish - not just of Finnish decent, but actually from Finland. And I was lucky enough to catch her eye. "Hirvi" is, of course, Finnish for "moose". "Maki" is "hill". And the name of my graphics company is Hirvimaki (Moosehill) Graphic Design. I just adore moose and when we lived in Finland we lived off of Hirvimaki road. When we moved back here I took up the name for my design business. She is not currently on my desk - so I beg forgiveness in including her picture on this thread - but I can have her pose on my desk if you'd like... Hirvimaki |

Title: Re: What's on your desk? (non-CH & photos) Post by purpleydog on Sep 1st, 2004, 7:09pm I just got my own office at work, complete with a 15" flat panel monitor, keyboard, shredder (a good one), and a new chair for the desk. Oh yes, and my new phone, complete with 6 lines. That's it. The desk is about 4ft x 5 ft. I can't even reach the back of it. I will hang the usual notes on the wall next to me. I will be taking my mouse pad (I love it) and my little blue notebook, with all my contact info. Otherwise, I'm free to add on. Any suggestions on what to add? Oh, and I have 4 stacks of paperwork I'm currently working on, and I know what is in each and every one. Even if they are 3 inches thick. ;) pd |

I also have some packages, mailers, sharpie pens, and other staple necessities. Above my desk is a calendar with post its on it, and about 10 pictures of Randy Rhoads - guitar extraordinare and my idol cut down too soon in life - that are laminated and mounted to foamcore. Imagine a room that is 8' X 8'. Now put in a desk that is 8' long by 3'. Cover that desk with a computer, printer, scanner, gobs of NASCAR stuff, thousands of printouts of geneology stuff. Also throw in 7 other computer systems (some of them 200 pound CD servers), a book shelf, a huge tool box, a Marshall amplifier, 4 guitars, a small practice amp, several hundred albums, random kids toys, a file cabinet, cds of just about every piece of software I have ever used, and my chair plus the many things I didn't remember. Half spread with strawberry cream cheese and the other half with honey nut cream cheese. A glass or orange juice. To continue to the right is 1 Motorola radio (computer) with monitor, keyboard and mouse and microphone. 2 speakers. 1 control panel for an annunciator (which is across the room). 1 trade board touch screen type telephone. 1 joy stick for security cameras 4 security monitor screens 1 security computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse.
