Title: My very first post here at CH.Com Post by Carl_D on Aug 29th, 2004, 8:05am I just found my first post here after a friend found this site for me. I will never forget that period of time, and the desperation I had. I often wondered if I was the only one who suffered with CH, and was so alone as my family didn't seem to care and I was losing everything I had worked damn hard for over the years. My Compact Disc collection had grown to over 5'000 and I had enough to take up one wall of units. People would shit a brick when they saw my collection, always asking if I had heisted a record store or something. It slowly wittled down to under 200 CD's as I had to sell them to survive for literally pennies on the dollar. Some cd's I had purchased at 30-40 dollars were being lost in pawn for a buck a piece. I had a Beatles collection of mostly bootlegs that was over 250 pieces, including some very rare vinyl that, had I found collectors instead of dealers when I was forced to dump my collection - I would have made a fortune ( I even had the 'butcher cover' of Yesterday and Today.) I had gone from having a house full of stuff, to a room of stuff. I don't even have a car anymore which, when I became homeless shortly after finding this site, was my home for a period. When I found CH.com, I was comforted to know I was no longer alone. When I showed the site to my sis in law, she was crying reading some of the posts. It was then that she realized I wasn't exagerrating about how bad clusters were, and she even commented that if she didn't know better, she would have thought I had written the posts myself. Anyway, here is a link to my first post. http://www.clusterheadaches.com/wwwboard/messages/8718.html |

LMAO!! Here we just got done with year number 5 of the OUCH convention, and it seems we just might almost double the attendence every other (or maybe every!) year from here on out. I read the rest of her post, but I'll let it go. I just thought it was neat to touch on that particular subject. :)mel |

Title: Re: My very first post here at CH.Com Post by BobG on Aug 29th, 2004, 12:09pm Thanks for the memories Carl. :D It brought back thoughts of the time you told about your nephew Elijah. It prompted me to tell the story of my grandson Zachery and why he became an OUCH member when he was only about 2 years old. |

Title: Re: My very first post here at CH.Com Post by Charlie on Aug 29th, 2004, 5:37pm Thanks Carl. While we're not the most tightly wired bunch, we seem to do rather well. Five cons. Yikes. I've been to only a couple and you scared me with your knowledge and ability to deal with this thing. Even OUCH is on the mend. 99% of what I know about this horror, I learned from DJs little creation. I like it anyway. Charlie |

Title: Re: My very first post here at CH.Com Post by Carl_D on Aug 30th, 2004, 12:21am Wow! That link was an interesting thread to say the least John. I have often wondered whatever happened to alot of the old board old timers like Bernadette, Susan D, Doc Greg, Drummer (where in the blue blazes fuck is he?) and of course that loose cannon also known as Linda B. If anyone could have had my head on a silver platter, it would have been Linda B. I echo Bernie's sentiments in her response. Quote:
This site is truly one of a kind! I know of no other like it. If somebody did create another cluster support site, I haven't heard of it. It doesn't matter what the naysayers quipped. This site has grown in many ways. I have grown in many ways since finding this site. Our numbers have increased, our knowledge, and we have grown together. Sure we bicker sometimes and don't always see eye to eye on everything - but you have that in any family. At the end of the day we still love each other, as our bond cannot be broken. Have I told you guys lately just how important you are to me, and how much I love you all? I am closer to many of you than I am alot of my blood relatives. I realized today that next month is my 17th anniversary of dealing with the beast, and I am 34 - which means I have lived with this hell inside my head for half of my life. The key word in that sentence is LIVED. Were it not for the CH beast, I wouldn't know you guys. However, I count myself as a better man having known you all. Gotta go...my eyes are leaking again. Peace, Hope & Love to you all, Carl D |
