Title: Re: favorite movies? Post by Melissa on Aug 28th, 2004, 3:48pm The scariest movie I ever watched, by myself, was The Exorcist (original version) when I was 18. I was 18 when I watched it because my dad said that I shouldn't watch it before then, I had to be an adult. I will NEVER watch it ever again!! Oh sure, I've seen Blair Witch, the Freddy movies, and a bunch of other scary ones, but movies that play on the faith and soul of a person, are the most frightening to me. :omel Rosemary's Baby was one I didn't like either... |

HELL YES!!! I have both Evil Dead movies on DVD, but only have "Army of Darkness" on vhs. The first two were done on a shoestring budget; the first while Sam Raimi was still in filmschool, the 2nd shortly after graduating. He is better known nowadays as the director and mastermind behind the "Spiderman" movies. The only movie that ever scared me was the original 1971 movie "Helter Skelter." I saw it when I was 10 years old and knew it was for real and actually happened. The movie itself is creepy as hell, and Steve Railsback did a phenomenal performance as Charles Manson. At the end Vincent Bugliosi turns to the camera and says "For every Manson family member we have in custody today, there are 20 more Charles Mansons out there, waiting to strike." Yeah, that is just what a 10 year old kid with a hyperactive imagination needs to hear! Steve Railsback also gave a very disturbing performance as Eddie in "Ed Gein." Ed Gein was the serial killer whom "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was loosely based and inspired by. Here's some more to add to the list: 1. The Outsiders (Can't believe I forgot to add that to the first list. Was my fave book by S.E. Hinton too along with "That Was Then, This is Now." 2. Vampires (John Carpenter) 3. Bad Boys (Sean Penn early 80's movie) 4. Frankenhooker (Campy as hell B movie!) 5. Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil 6. Full Metal Jacket 7. Jeffrey (hilarious gay comedy with Patrick Stewart a.k.a. Star Trek's Capt Piquard as a total flamer!) 8. This is SPINAL TAP (Nigel Tufnel RULES!) 9. Saving Private Ryan 10. The Goodbye Girl 11. 8 Mile 12. Interview With The Vampire 13. Serial 14. Get Crazy (obscure early 80's movie with Malcolm McDowell as a rock star!) 15. Time After Time 16. IT (Awesome movie with Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown) 17. Monster 18. Used Cars 19. Billy Jack 20. The Postman 21. Dog Day Afternoon 22. Game of Death 23. My Bodyguard (haven't seen this one in years) 24. Taps 25. Philadelphia 26. Forrest Gump 27. Adventures of Ford Fairlane 28. New York Ripper (very graphic and gruesome) 29. Return of the Living Dead (comical zombie parody) 30. Wild Things 31. And The Band Played On 32. Die Laughing (70's Robby Benson movie) 33. There's Something About Mary 34. Excalibur 35. The Cell 36. Carrie ( the Sissy Spacek original) 37. They Live 38. Ten Little Indians 39. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (you either 'got it' or you didn't. It was alot of fun when it was at the Varsity Theatre midnights Friday and Saturday. The audience partici--------pation made for riotous times.) 40. Back to the Future 1,2 & 3 41. Rock n Roll High School (my introduction to The Ramones) 42. Extremities 43. Jeepers Creepers 44. Starship Troopers 45. The Doors 46. Kalifornia 47. Reservoir Dogs 48. Head Office 49. Unforgiven 50. The Warriors (late 70's NY gang movie) That's some more of my recommendable picks. One movie that is a wild must see is The Wicker Man. It is another obscure movie with Christopher Lee as a pagan cult leader. In fact, alot of the actors in the movie waived their fee and did the movie for free they felt so strong about it. Peace, and happy hunting. Carl |

Title: Re: favorite movies? Post by Carl_D on Aug 29th, 2004, 7:25am Two Jodie Foster movies I always loved were "Foxes" and a very obscure movie called "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane." I have not been able to find the latter movie anywhere - not on vhs or dvd. I haven't seen it since the mid 80's and don't know of any station broadcasting it either, and can't find any info on it. :-[ Another warped movie I'd like to find is "Twisted Brain" about a young obsessed chemist. From what I remember of it (I was little when I seen it) it had a couple of instances where he looked like he was having a CH. Some other 'older' movies I haven't seen in years are "I Saw What You Did And I Know Who You Are" "Mary Jane Harper Cried Last Night" (a movie about an abused little girl), "Sybil" (another abuse movie with Sally Field as a girl with multiple personalities trying to cope with her cruel upbringing.) Then there is one movie I'd love to see again. "Who Slew Auntie Roo." Anybody remember THAT movie? It had Shelly Winters in it. Peace, Carl D |
