GUESS WHAT?????????????????????? CAME HOME WITH THE KITTY WAITING IMPATIENTLY TO GET IN..........SUDDEN SKUNK ODOR MADE ME THINK GEE THE SKUNK MUST BE OUTSIDE ~~~ THEN CLOSER AND CLOSER..........EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW THE KITTY HAS BEEN SKUNKED IN THE FACE....... SO~~ DAVE GOT SCRATCHED BREEZY GOT SCRATCHED~~~ WE BEEN DESKUNKING........... AS BEST WE CAN WITH WHAT WE HAVE TO DESKUNK WITH...........CATS DISLIKE WATER ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we googled but dont have any of the ingredients... out of bakinsoda...(I have a pool) and we cant use any thing on her face and she got it in the face poor thing..... poor sweet pain in the ass cat... who is so lucky she is cute........... she gets into more trouble..... thanks for the link..........im checkin it out now..........love ree

we used the vinegar boy we are so smart!!! thanks again~~ I will probably do the other remedy tomorrow Im sure this kitten hasn't had her last deskunking bath...

Brad got skunked as a kid and said he had to take a bath in tomato juice.........guess he was a bloody Bradley ech ? Anyhow....where was I....oh yeah.....there is a 'de-scent remedy' I have made before that needs scaled down to only make a small amount but this is the recipie.

1 quart 3 % hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup bakeing soda
1 teaspoon mild liquid soap

Works on animals or surfaces and rinse immediatly. DO NOT STORE cuz it will explode in air tight container. (I found out the hard way.....got it in the face) Use of any animal odors directions say.

This is an old remedy that does work on urine smells ect on floors ect whatever.......but kitty may become a blonde ! It will or can bleach out stuff but is supposidly safe health wise. But there's new odor eliminators on the market now similar to this that can be stored and mite want to check at the bigger pet stores cuz they have special shampoos' and rinses just for this and are SAFE for cats. Be careful cuz cats are sensitive to alot of chemicals and some will KILL them !!! I taught I smelled a puddy tatt Pam

Stinky kitty, huh?

My sister-in-law can’t smell skunks. Really, she can’t smell ‘em. You know, some people can’t hear certain sounds or tones. She can’t smell skunk stink.

A few years ago we were out camping and NoNoseForSkunkStink got sprayed. She thought she got it but couldn’t smell it and just figured she didn’t. When she came back to camp we all gagged and moved down wind. We told her to go find a shower or anything to get rid of the smell. Her husband wouldn’t let her drive the truck. She had ride to town, about 22 miles of dirt road, in the back of the pickup so she wouldn't stink up the seats.

We’ve never let her forget that.

I’ve also heard of using tomato juice but don’t know if it works. Probably just make the cat smell like a skunk dipped in catsup.

It works quite well. Apply, rub in, let it set for a few minutes and rinse.

If you tape the cats paws together. front 2 and the back 2 and then lay her on her side. Take a clothe and wipe her with tomato j. , everyone will be safer including your kitty.

Tomato juice or a tomato paste rub it in and let it soak a while then rinse . that is what i use on the dogs if they get sprayed.

Have you thought about shaving kitty then washing in tomato juice?

I considered going down that path, and you know what I mean, but decided to take the high road.

tomato paste ?? I just can't imagine rubbin tomatoe anything on a cat let alone paste.........probly and most likely the easiest answer would be to check out the shampoos and applications at the larger pet stores just for STINKY CATS. Easier to apply....won't explode or bleach out kitty or irritate eyes and probly rinse out easier then turnin kitty into hamburger helper. Let us know how it turned out....pun intended Pam

my recipie is great on STINK....the new odor out or odor away sprays in pet dept's is basically the same now with anouther type emzyme that does NOT cause explosions. But there all more for area cleaning or deodorizeing or neutralizeing odors in kennels and on walls and floors bedding ect.

Ree, sorry yall got skunked but tomato juice works GREAT. Been skunked my self several times. And tomato juice worked great on ME and the horse!! You may have to put kitty in a pillow case to keep her from clawing you, and wipe her face down with it with a rag with the tomato juice on it. Just watch out for her eyes. The pillow case you can put kitty in it and then her in the tub and dump it over her. Hope you get rid of the odor soon and best of luck with kitty.

Thanks for all the great advice for next time..this kitty is so silly I am sure it will happen again... We used vinegar. it worked pretty well she smells like a salad.... Bob G that story is a riot.........LOLOL

For future reference.....

We have this magic potion we got from an animal hospital called "Skunk -off" You don't even need H2O if you don't want to use it. Lots of pets and four bottles of it in the closet.

Kev I thought that same thing last night( Pepe le peu) and this cat is such a ditz too... she probably wanted to playyyyyyy... Huge dogs almost come off their leashes to get her and she doesnt even flinch. She is way too "special" if you know what I mean.

and Don are you still riding that bus..........sheesh...
