Title: et tu, father, et tu?
Post by k9n8 on Aug 24th, 2004, 12:44pm
Just had a conversation with my dad. He has been suffering from classic migraines for about 10 years, off and on. I have seen it many times, he is down for about 2-3 hours with a good sized headache, laying down, quiet, dark, takes cafergot, etc...
Well, as I said, we spoke last night, I told him that I have had an especially bad couple of CHs and I dont even complete the sentence when he interrups me to tell me he knows, his are really bad too. I said I thought he had migraines, he says no, he has clusters because they come for about 3 months out of the year. I said maybe he should visit clusterheadaches.com to research it, he says he did and thats how he knows, because of the cycle.
I DONT FUCKING BELEIVE IT, THAT PIG HEADED MF IS SAYING "YOU HAVE CLUSTERSME TOO" WITHOUT EVEN A SPACE BETWEEN THE WORDS.....
cant I have a broken leg without him whipping his out to compare?!?!
He is so competitive with me, and I have never wanted to compete on any level.
If it was called dibilitating temporary brain rupture, I dont think he could cop to it like that.
Anyway, him and I will have a different conversation next time, in front of a computer with this website up for reference. I am not doing this, pretending that we are going through the same thing.
I told him that I was thrashing about, screaming and bauling and literally moaning until I was out of that breath and then sucking in another breath and doing it again and HE SAYS, "WOW, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOURS ARE A LITTLE WORSE THAN MINE".........
SINCE WHEN? Since about 2 minutes ago.
I have diagnosed from a neurologist, not an inconsiderate father............

thanks for reading, I feel better.

Tell your father, if he can 'lay down' with HIS clusters - they aren't clusters. MIGRAINES and tension headaches make you lie down. CLUSTERS make you FUCKING HOSTILE and unable to sit still.

There is a BIG difference.

Vent away K9,
Carl D

The only way i managed to get most of my family to understand marc's CH was to make sure that they saw him have an attack - they have all been brilliant since then.

If your dad sees you have a full blown attack then he will soon change his tune!

luv sarah xx

Like the old saying...

When in doubt,
Whip it out.

Now that you mention it Carl.......Brad is one of the different ones and hits the couch when he gets HIT......he won't move........he sits and holds his head with eye and nose running and saggy eye stuff......you name it. Gets mean as hell if ya mess with him. I set out hs stuff and RUN. But he copes differently then the norm.......and YEAH he was diagnosed by a neuro years ago. Anyone doubt'n that gets there ass kicked by lampshade himself. There's always someone that thinks they got the same thing as you.....there's always someone that deals differently with the same thing as you......and there's always some dumbass that SAYS he has the same thing as you. Wrong way Pam

Hang in there K9.

Unfortunately we get that all the time but it's even worse from a family member.

Fiance made the mistake of asking if I brought them on myself, as i was getting hit at a family meeting for his brother's wedding.  He's lucky he's still alive.  He apologized later when I was able to explain how much that comment hurt coming from him.

I'm the same way, Coots. When I feel a Cluster coming on I grab my Kleenex & homemade ice bag, sit or lay on the couch.  Sometimes I'll rock back & forth & willl always mutter expletives. But other then that...I don't move too much. Moving for me, makes the pain worse.

That's EXACTLY what Brad does Jimmy......sits or lays there with that huge clump of kleenex to the side of his face and either lays or sits muttering and a lill bit of rockin at first.....he says it's too bad to move and comes on too fast. He's done the proverbial screaming upstairs. Level'd to the couch Pam

Sorry....didn't mean for this to sound more like that....oh yeah me too 'jus like that' crap.

Hey K9,

Don't call it a cluster HEADACHE.  Call it:

" A massive localized trigeminal nerve attack coupled with atypical blood flow causing massive pain trauma coupled with possible psycho-neurological imbalances"

See if he can top THAT!

(please notice this is in quotation marks.  I have plagerized this from BobbyG who wrote this on May 25, 1999)
