Title: back to life Post by john_d on Aug 18th, 2004, 7:11pm My power just got back on. It's been off since friday after Charley came through. I was literally watching the inner bands hit my neighborhood on the news forecast and my transformer blew, I was the last one on my street to get power restored (that sucked). My neighborhood is 1-2 acre wooded lots per home and we have tall sand pines all through it. Florida is very sandy so tree's don't tend to root deep. Tree's were crashing down and breaking all around my house. It was night so I could not see outside even with a flashlight (reflection), but I could see on my front porch the top of a tree laying sideways. That was a wild night. Woo hooo! Back home! ;;D |

Title: Re: back to life Post by john_d on Aug 18th, 2004, 7:31pm No damage, thank god, just a mess. I was just on the outskirts of the storm, the folks who live in Orlando where I work got it bad. The first few days it looked like a war zone. Many, many roofs are ruined in Orlando. And even more tree damage, big oaks were uprooted. Two people I work with had trees crash in their house and most had roof damage. My good friend just bought a 240,000 dollar house in Orlando and got it near a 'conservation area'. That conservation area is now just a field :-/ I can't wait tell everyone gets there power back up. If anyone does have vibes to spare, send them to the folks directly in the path of the hurricane, they had it rough. edit spelling |

Title: Re: back to life Post by Gator on Aug 20th, 2004, 4:19am Glad to see you survived the storm body and home intact. Beware, there are scam artists already hard at work out there. They are going door to door, clipboard in hand, representing themselves as FEMA personnel. They are asking for social security numbers, bank account info and sometimes even tax returns to get information off of. If one shows up on your doorstep, invite them into your house and shoot them on the spot. Make sure they are dead, then call the police and say they forced their way into your house and you defended yourself. Vibage for a quick return to normal life heading your way. PF2U Gator |

Thanks for the tip. Death would be too easy for them. They would have ample time for painful regret prior to that sweet release. |
