Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by pubgirl on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:00pm Sorry Jonny, my PC won't let me open the link! but I can guess what it said. I know your country is second in the medals table. and honour is restored in Basketball, the USA just beat Greece (that WOULD have been embarassing) Great Britain are total crap, we are cheering when people come fourth, that's how desperate we are! W |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Jonny on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:05pm Actually its just a song Wendy, nothing to do with anything really. ..............................jonny |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Gator on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:05pm Jeez. Look at you trying to start something. Wendy, you are such a trouble maker. ;;D I haven't actually watched any of the olympics. Gator |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Margi on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:13pm Well, we Canadians are tied for 36th place (uh, yeah, that's last place). But we're having a really good time over there! Why, just yesterday, we had a Canadian wearing a blue tutu and white tights "compete" in the men's synchro diving! Kinda freaked the Chinese divers out though. |
||
Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by pubgirl on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:18pm Margi You have to be kidding! I missed that, that would have been choice! It aint anything to shout about, but we are 23rd in the table. Funny thing is we've only got a pathetic 2 medals, and Canada only have one less! Wendy Gator The USA got beaten by Puerto Rico in the Basketball, and Roger Federer got wiped out in the first round of the tennis by an unknown (mind you so did that tosser "Tiger" Tim Henman, who I can't bear to watch) |
||
Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by 9erfan on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:27pm Those idiot basketball players may have lost the first round, but USA is still winning the overall medal count!! Go SWIMMERS!! I would say "go track & field" but by next week all the drug tests should be completed so I don't know if we'll have anyone competing! oops! Did I say that out loud? [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Superpain on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:30pm I'm out of xanax... I can't watch anymore USA BBall! :P |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:54pm LOL Wendy, I've been watching the olympics almost nonstop while I'm at home! I fell asleep during Men's Gymnastics last night, but I was really enjoying watching it!! I've always been a huge olympics fan, but I like winter games better than summer. I skated and ski'd...so.... :) So Federer lost right away? Dang that sucks...... Wouldn't have expected that!! Anyone watch men's synchro diving yesterday? That was killer..... Lizzie :) |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Mac on Aug 17th, 2004, 5:59pm Yeah Canada's sucking at the Olympics. But the World Cup of Hockey starts in a couple of weeks! ;) |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Mac on Aug 17th, 2004, 6:14pm I'll be amazed if there is a season next year. They have to do something to get the NHL's house in order. Picking up Ricci and Hull were good moves. It'll be a step forward although trading Brier will come back to haunt them. |
||
Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 17th, 2004, 6:18pm Not to be rude or offensive in any way, but there is something about Phoenix and Hockey that just makes me laugh!!! But then, if the Jamaican's can bobsled.... ;;D |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Edna on Aug 18th, 2004, 1:49am Thanks Wendy, been watching, staying up, getting no sleep......lol Loved watching the women's gymnastics tonight. As much as we all hoped for Romania to screw up something on the floor exercises, it didn't happen in the end. But, proud to have the American girls win the Silver. AND MAN!!! Just LOVED watching the American men win the swimming over the Australian's. Such emotion and thrill, enjoyed it much. Glad to see someone else here enjoys the tennis too. Just wish they showed more of it. But, then again, have the U.S. Open to look forward to starting Aug. 30. And, gee whiz, where did this kid Mardy Fish come from. I watch lots of tennis, and really don't recall seeing him. Good match today against the Spanish, Juan Carlos Ferrera. Enjoyed that to start my morning for sure. Oh well, look what you started Wendy...lol I could go on and on, but don't want to bore you guys. EDNA |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by pubgirl on Aug 18th, 2004, 2:21am Edna It was wet and horrible here yesterday so I watched the swimming and the gymnastics too. The American girls were great (were they all called Courtney?) Swiiming was good too, 'cos we actually got a medal! W |

I guess you like all those sweaty youngsters hopping around or whatever they are doing, eh? :D I was not what you would call a gifted athlete. Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by john_d on Aug 18th, 2004, 11:12am The United States is doing great. China is doing a little better, nothing to be ashamed about. Australia is also doing great also. Great Britian has one silver and two bronze, which is really good, better than about half. I would prefer the US has not been beat in basketball by a US territory, but our team has not been gelling and their outside shots are terrible. And, of course, Puerto Rico played a great game. |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by FZfan on Aug 18th, 2004, 1:32pm love the olympics, winter or summer. watched quite a bit so far since some events are on Bravo, USA, CNBC, and MSNBC in addition to prime-time NBC. To me, it's just interesting to see something different, such as saber, which I had never seen before. I like all the events, even the most boring ones because, no matter how boring an event is, it could hardly be more boring than major league baseball or pga golf. ;;D It's just too bad they don't perform as they did in the original games 2000 years ago - naked! Especially women's volleyball! ;;D |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Charlie on Aug 18th, 2004, 3:41pm To show you how much I follow the Olympics; I wasn't aware basketball was an Olympic sport. No problem though because I find Curling more exciting. Sorry. Charlie |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by Lizzie2 on Aug 19th, 2004, 12:02am Men's gymnastics was pretty kick ass tonight!! As was the women's freestyle relay...forget the distance right now! I love watching the olympics! :) And Charlie...curling?? LMAO Isn't that like..shuffleboard on ice? hehe Men's basketball is only cursed because AI is on the team and Larry Brown is coaching...it's a Philly thing. I like Larry Brown, though! :) |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by pubgirl on Aug 19th, 2004, 4:12pm I think I may have found a common denominator about the events we are Ok in: Archery, Sailing, 3 Day Eventing Crap at Gymnastics, most Athletics, most swimming, ball sports etc We need events where something/someone else does the work and we can be a bit unfit/drink/smoke etc and still win. Dammit, we trash the World at Darts! Proves my point! Wendy P.S. I'm shit at Sport but I was a University Ladies Darts Champion, play best when drunk too. ;;D |

Title: Re: Dare I mention Olympics? Post by FZfan on Aug 19th, 2004, 4:16pm anytime there is an event where being unfit, drinking and smoking is a requirement, count me in! Don't even care if I win or not. |
