OK so once again I'm a moron with this O2 setup stuff. ;) Until the insurance stuff gets settled, my dad doesn't want to return the tanks to the med supply company and pick up the welder's tanks. OOOOOk that's fine...so long as he pays the bill!!!

At any rate, here in Philly, I have my H tank which still has some O2 in it that I've been going off of. I have a few pieces of O2 tubing and the mask, of course. I also have a bubbler, but I've never used it before. The current regulator I have on my H tank does not have a "tree" setup where y ou screw the bubbler onto the regulator itself. I can't figure out how to connect the bubbler to the regulator without leaking O2 out. Maybe there isn't a way? I tried asking my roommate for help since she works for the ambulance, but she didn't know either! I won't share all the random creative ways we tried to connect the bubbler to the regulator because you will laugh!

Any ideas anyone? I don't have a wrench big enough to get the current regulator off the tank to put one on with a tree setup. ::)

Actually it does help me a lot. Used one for the first time in Nashville. Also, I get nosebleeds almost every day (long story...has to do w/a surgery problem), and the O2 really makes the nosebleeds worse...but the bubbler does seem to help with that!

If I have to wait until I get the setup going right, then I'll be ok :) That might be the only answer.

Lizzie,

Sure wish i was there to help ya out. Even though it's not a difficult task, you really need to find someone who knows what they are doing. Those tanks can be under a very high pressure and shoot off like an Iraqi missile if they valve was to get damaged or broke off. Maybe someone will post to help ya out. Just to hard to explain over the net.

Hi Lizzie,

As for your bubbler setup...Can you conect the tubing to the H tank regulator and insert the other end into the bubbler, where the piece would screw into the regulator is? Then seal with duct tape. I know that this is a less than ideal setup, but it may get you by until you can get a proper setup going.

Just an idea anyway...

Hi Lizzie,

Either way would work, but would probably seal better with the tubing going into the hole. Then you can pile on the duct tape. After you get your setup proper, you can clean off the tape residue with some rubbing alcohol. That's a drawback of the tape, it leaves that tape residue wherever you put it. If you have any other type of tape that would probably work too.

Before I got an "official" bubbler, I made my own. The way I did it was with an empty mayonaise or peanut butter jar, a bungee cord and some silicone glue. A plastic lid works best.

Drill two holes, just large enough for your air hose to fit through, in the lid, at two opposite sides of the top.

Strap the jar to your tank, with the bungee cord. Cut your hose, long enough so that it goes from the regulator to the bottom of the jar, plus a little more. Push it through one of the holes in the lid.

Take the other part of the hose that you cut off, and put it in the other hole in the lid, just far enough to go through the lid.

Seal around both hoses with the silicone glue. Let it dry.

Now file the jar about one third full.

You now have a working bubbler.
