Title: Trading Spouses
Post by Superpain on Aug 11th, 2004, 3:23am
Anyone catch this show the past few weeks?
Another product of FOX'S "reality think tank".
I find it fascinating, like a really bad car wreck.
It's interesting how they arrange people with certain families to get the most dramatic contrast.

I'm afraid the poor "poor" family this week is going to break up after this.

They should have had to spend all the money on therapy for their mom.

What a bitch.

It kind of makes me embarrassed to be a human...

Oooops, not sure which came first but we may have invented this horror :-[.
We have a program here that has been running for a couple of years called "Wife Swap". They deliberately pair up the couples most likely to clash r.e. money, lifestyle, children, values, childcare philosophy etc. They also ALWAYS seem to pair up the ones where one husband is a dinosaur who does nothing and goes to the pub, and the other husband helps around the house.

It is sick really but I hate myself for finding it fascinating how other people live their lives, and I want to give my hubby huge kisses when I see how bad other people's husbands are!

Over here some huge rows have been screened, some marriage problems developed, but a few families and marriages have improved as a result of what they learned. The programme makers probably justify it on that basis.

What kind of fooking eejit agrees to go on these programmes though [smiley=huh.gif]

Yes i did see the show, I found myself getting sooo angry with the ongoing negative attitude spewing from the mouth of the poor mother and then she would just say "I'm a strong person, that's why they don't like me."

WHAT A BUNCH OF BS!!

She's a bitch!  THAT'S why nobody liked her.  She doesn't have any excuses!  Her family would be better off without her.  Their home is such a mess because she sucks the joy out of life and nobody wants to do anything except EAT.

Did you see how happy the daughter and son were to have a positive influence around them?  I really feel sorry for the kids.  Here’s a news flash dad, flush the wife and watch how much better things will be.  Now that's a reality show I would love to watch.

I really don't want to trade spouses.  Take over the payments and she's yours.  Pink slip and all.  Wada deal!

I don't care I love my reality shows, call me sad call me stupid..I don't care.
Did you see the show the week before with the blonde rich woman who used her Japanese mother in law like a slave...ohhhhhhhhhh she made my blood boil. She thought she was really intelligent, yet she was as dense as they come.

I have never been able to watch so-called "reality tv."  I think the shows are stupid.  There is very little "real" about them.

All other commentary deleted after careful consideration.

I don't watch 'em either, Gator - all I will say is, reality ceases to exist the moment the camera is turned on.

How can you say that.  Take Survivor -- the islanders are eating bugs while the camera crew has the caterers tent with all the fixins.  What unreal about that?

Does the same apply for porno films.  "Betty Bomber this is Dick Long Dong,  ready, action, screw".

My idea of a "real" reality show.

Survivor:

Take 10 people to an un-inhabited island.

Give them each a cell phone, a piece of string, a small knife, a book of matches, and a banana (why a banana?... I don't know. It just sounded good.)

Leave them all behind to fend for them selves.

The last one to call for help wins the million dollars.

THAT is reality.

I agree completely.
It totally examplified the real life difference and results of being positive and being negative, and how it affects everyone around you.

I have to admit it made me think I need to be more positive... I'm nowhere close to that bitch, but I guess I could use some work nonetheless.

I'm a better man because of reality TV. ::)
