Will hitting the refresh button override a saved cookie ?

I don't think so. I could be wrong. You have to either delete it and re-save or physically overwrite it.

I think Tom is right.  I think you have to clear your browser cache to get rid of it.

Nope.

Ctrl-Refresh will force a reload of the page, bypassing your cache.  Is that what you are trying for?

But Don asked about Cookies....re-freshing the page only re-transmits the web page and from my experience, will not overwrite the cookie. Remember that a cookie is a file that stores data of who you are to the server of the web page. I could be wrong...

Depends on how the web page was written ...  some may serve a fresh cookie every time a page is sent.  Some cookies are used as timers - these could be refreshed frequently.  Login pages often auto-refresh to make sure a new cookie is set (one which authorizes a user).

I delete all cookies and temp internet files everyday. It keeps things running smoother I think....
Plus, if you have 100 cookies, at least 3 of them are spyware.

Don,

Assuming you're using Microsoft:

Go to 'Tools' menu, tne 'Internet Options' and click on the 'Privacy' tab.  That's where you set up how I.E. handles your cookies. ;)
