Title: Warning---E-Mail Scammers (Obviously Non CH) Post by Jimmy_B on Aug 9th, 2004, 2:28pm FYI... "BE AWARE: CITIBANK EMAIL SCAM A new email scam is circulating the Internet. This scam appears to be from CitiBank and states that "there have been a large number of identity theft attempts targeting CitiBank customers," and "in order to safeguard your account" it is mandatory that you "confirm banking details" by following a hyperlink and entering account information. The email looks very official with the CitiBank logo, and is sent from what appears to be a CitiBank email address. IMPORTANT: This email does not come from CitiBank; it comes from Internet hackers who are attempting to steal personal financial information. THESE EMAILS ARE FRAUDULENT - DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM. Exercise Extreme Caution with Email As a general rule, in order to protect your personal information and privacy, any request for information from any third-party supplier, bank, or financial institution--even one with whom you are familiar--should be verified directly with them using your regular telephone contact information. Do not use contact information provided in an email you have been sent." Jimmy |
