Title: need cat vibes
Post by fubar on Aug 8th, 2004, 5:55pm
Folks,

If you have any vibes to spare (I know there are bigger problems here, but this is major to me) please send them this way.  The love of my life, my bengal cat Taz, is sick and probably won't last the week.  He is having a neurological failure that defies diagnosis, and the vet says not to get my hopes up for any miraculous recovery.  If I could explain how attached I am to this cat, you all would think I was insane.  This cat takes showers with me, sleeps with me, sits with me while I work, plays fetch... and on top of that, he is without a doubt the most beautiful cat in the entire world.  I love this cat as much as my kids and he is a bonafide family member.  I cannot deal with losing him, but I know I have to come to grips with it.  I can't describe how sick and depressed I am at this moment. He is currently in the hospital and the tab is already over $1200, and in all likelihood, it's for nothing.  I can't afford it but I can't just let him die without trying to save him.  Please send me a miracle.  I just can't believe God would let him go so quickly.  He's only 4 years old.  His birthday was July 19th.  This sucks.  I just don't fucking get it... I mean, I'm a good guy, I help others any chance I get.  Why does this shit have to happen?  Why now?  Why?

Oh no Fubar,
I'm so sorry.
Only 4 years old??  Do they think a brain tumor or something like that?
Sending up the biggest vibes I got, hoping for a
miracle.  sigh,

Oh Shawn!

I know how devoted to him you are. This is awful.
Do they really not know what is wrong with him?
Was there an accident or a chance of poison? Both of these happened to our Alfie (not sure if you met him, he is the long haired black one)
He showed very severe neurological symptoms when we later found out he had been shaken by the neck by a dog and had a serious concussion. It took weeks for him to be normal again. On another occasion the vet said he must have eaten some poison somewhere as he couldn't stand up and just quivered and dribbled. He nearly died then and they said there was nothing we could do but hope.
He is still with us, albeit with none of his nine lives left as he is a bit of a wanderer (he's been run over by a car as well)

Don't give up hope Shawn. Cats are strange and wonderful things.

Am sending hopes and prayers for Taz now.

Wendy

Sending vibes to ya.

Our pets are our family.

A cat taking a shower? Unreal, I thought my dog was cool because she sneezes on command and sings Who let the dogs out.

Hoping for a miracle.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

sorry Fu,

Jim  :'(

Oh Fubar..I am so, so sorry.  I understand how you feel.
I will send all the vibes and prayers I can.

I had a cat once, Sylvester, that maybe had the exact  same thing...seemed to be neurological, and he died within a couple weeks.  No diagnosis...all the tests showed nothing.  I hope your sweetie pulls through.  My best advice to you is to bring him home.  Give him all the love you can and just be with him.  Just hold him.

I heard of another cat that this happened to also.  I wish I knew what it was, what happened...and how to fix it.  It really sucks when you can't find out what is causing the problem.  Is he losing weight fast?  Does he fall over?  Seem dizzy?  I pray he will be ok.

Do you have any poisonous plants around??  Or mouse poison??  Antifreeze?

I am praying all I can Fub.  Please keep us informed.  We are with you and praying for a miracle.

Dear God,
Please be with Fubar and Taz during this difficult time.  Please bring a miracle to Taz and heal his body and mind.  Please let him live with his family for many more years...he is loved there so much.  Please hear our prayers and bring Taz home soon.  Even if he has used up his 9 lives, please Dear God, give him 10.  He is a very special cat and still very young.  Please bless this kitty and give him another chance to enjoy life with his family.
In Jesus' name, Amen

PS, Fubs,
IM me your address please.  I don't have much, but I got a $20 in an evelope ready to send you towards that vet bill.  I know where you are coming from. It's not much, but every little bit helps.  Our pets are worth it.

Hoping for that miracle....

I have no good news, and no bad news.  Every test came back normal, and the bill is already $1200.  They are suggesting a spinal tap and an MRI.  I just can't afford that, and I can't imagine they would find something I could afford to fix anyway.  At the same time, the idea of letting go sickens and terrifies me.  If there was a way to save him, what would those next 12 years be worth?  I just don't know what to do.  For the moment, I'm stalling for time, wishing he'll just get better and this was all a flike.

This cat lived inside exclusively.  I've never had rat poisen in the house, or antifreeze, or any poiseness plants.  This is a mystery at this point.

Thank you for the well wishes.

hey fubar i know what you are feeling.

my beloved Weenie Has hip displasia and she is going down hill right before my eyes.  I am spending 60 a month on meds for her to ease the pain. she is now having a tough time controling her bladder and i have now purchased a rug shampooer to clean up after her.  this dog was with me thru my 2 back surgery after my accident. she is so good and pleasant.  My vet tells me it is just a matter of time. before i will have to put her to sleep. she has been with me for almost 13 years now.

vibes for you and your cat

You have a beautiful pet and I'm sorry to hear this for you. I have a cat I am very attahed to also so I know how hard it must be. Ask your vet what they think they might find by doing the MRI and spinal tap? If you decide not to have these tests done, maybe if they tell you what they think is possible to find, maybe they could treat what they think it could be???? I don't know what else to say except it's a sad situation and I wish you the best.

I just had an encouraging call from the vet.  Taz is on fluids and has a catheter.  The doc says he's looking pretty good and was up for a while moving around his cage.  When I brought him, he couldn't take 2 steps.  She recommends the tests but is guardedly optimistic now since he is not getting worse by the hour like before.

All I can say is those vibes must be working, and I have a glimmer of hope now.  I am going to transport him to his real vet tomorrow, IV, catheter and all, for one more day of supportive care before I decide anything else.

Thanks for the vibes and prayers.  No more crying tonight.

Sorry to hear this. It's pretty animal though and I know how attached you can get to a pet.

A cat that hops in the shower with you? Wow. That's enough to save him right there.

Good luck Fubar.

Hey Fu.
I can relate 100%. We lost our beloved Haiku this past spring. The pain has receeded but I have not forgotten. Know that when the time comes to say goodbye, it will be hard but it is right. Rainbow Bridge is so on target.

your cat is so stunning.
Here's  prayer that I found, just for him.

For A Sick Animal:

Heavenly Father,
you created all things for your glory
and made us stewards of this creature.
If it is your will, restore it to health and strength.
Blessed are you, Great Spirit,
and holy is your name for ever and ever.

Amen.

OH Fu-

You know I know what you're going through!  I'm so SORRY to hear about Taz.  That's WAY too young.  I'll be praying the vet figures out what's wrong with Taz and can make him well again.

I know it's a tough decision....the vets charge a fortune!  Hang in there, Taz may very well be making a turnaround.

Fubs,
The prayers and vibes are still coming from North Carolina.  Praying for a full recovery for little Taz.  Hold his paw and give him a snuggle from me.  Keep us posted.  I will be awaiting the good news....PLEASE DEAR GOD! GOOD NEWS for TAZ!

Also, Fubs, have you checked with any cat rescues?  Sometimes they will lend a hand with vet bills to keep a family pet going.  Our local dog rescue does that.

I pick up Taz today to bring him home.  They found a problem on his spine.  It could be cancer, or simply a slipped disc.  Talk about good or bad... :-/  I'm hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.  Poor thing can barely move.  If it's just a bad back, we can deal with it with medications and rest.  If it is cancer, there is nothing that can be done anyway.  Thanks again for the vibes.
