Title: New neuro
Post by sandie99 on Aug 8th, 2004, 8:46am
I'm going to meet a new neurologist tomorrow. It'll be exciting; neuro nro 3... I sure hope that this one will listen when I tell her about my CH. The two before her sure didn't. I'm hoping to get oxygen this time! Wish me luck!

best wishes & PF days to all!

good luck dear!

Arm yourself with as much info. as you can so that they can not just tell you "No, that doesn't work" or "I've been doing it this way for years"

I hate that!!

Best wishes Sandie, and lots of vibes.  Hope you find that neuro in a haystack.

Eric's right on, print out anything and everything to take with you.  Who knows, if the neuro knows about CH you may not need it.

lots of luck to you!

John

Good luck - sending vibes to ya right now!!!

Ditto to what everyone else is saying - get as much info as pos.

Dont take no for an answer - and remember, just because they think they are experts it doesnt mean they are one. :-X

We should have a list somewhere of neuros that suck !!
Good luck with this one, I've been to 4 myself, one guy in Casper,Wyo ..he sucked, another in Billings, Mt. he sucked...another in Novato Ca, he sucked..... and finally found one after 25 years in Medford Or.  he listened ,we discussed research, therapies, I still have CH.  He gives me what I want when I want it and we are a team. I still believe the best thing is he actually listened and understood on my level. It also helps to provide them with your medical file and history, these guys are busy . Don't be afraid to not take crap if they aren't paying attention yell if you have to after all you are paying for a service. Good luck, BB

Right on: A list of neuros that SUCK would be great. On the Jeep group that I'm on, there is a list of vendors that suck, or at least a review section. It would be nice to have a similar feature here. I'll be glad to start: For anyone in the Middle Tennessee area, don't bother seeing Dr. Bill Atalla. He'll diagnose you with "cluster migraines" and give you oral Imitrex and Depakote, and if you ask for oxygen, he'll tell you that you don't look cyanotic.  >:( His listening skills are also complete SHIT.

Sandie, very best wishes with your new neuro. PFDAN!

For the england neuro's you can list "all neuros in Brighton"!!

All the decent ones are in London!

Sorry Sarah

This is a very misleading thing to post here, particularly for any Brits reading this. There are many very fine neuros outside London

Sorry - its just that we havnt met any yet.

Im sure there are lots of good ones outside London but i can assure you in Brighton there are none - we have seen them all.

Dr Tisch was understanding but he did admit that he didnt know what was wrong with Marc - apart from that they havnt got a clue.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but its true. The only reason we got to the london consultants was through a neuro in haywards heath and that was onlyt because i refused to leave his office until he gave something else to go on instead of just "havnt got  a clue".

I dont mean to put a downer on things for people in england but isnt it better that they know who is not good and who is? saves a lot of time running around looking for someone that can help.

Dont mean to sound harsh - just my opioin - sorry if it offends anyone  :-[

Have you asked at OUCH (UK)? - seem to remember quite a few positive comments from across the country, and a growing number of GPs to be included. Young Emma may have some views local to you.

Sandie,

I had to move around too 'til things got better.  Between two doctors now, combined, one helps out where the other has a blind spot and vice versa.  Things could turn out better for you tomorrow.   Hope the best and good luck.
