Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by UN_SOLVED on Jul 30th, 2004, 5:44pm Mine has been as high and even higher than that on numerous occasions (usually after 8 or more Imitrex injections in 1 day ). Yours is very high, but I wouldn't freak out over it. It would just make it even higher. You're doctor(s) should've been notified immediately for an RX increase or change. You should monitor it closely for a few days / weeks. Take it easy for awhile (if possible). And hate to say it ... but avoid Triptans (if possible) and other BP raising drugs. (NO DHE for you !!). Also, many blood pressure monitoring devices for home use are not all that accurate. I've seen it many times with my dad using his machine and with myself. Any activities (exercise, movement, smoking, etc) can affect your blood pressure. Lay down for awhile and rest, then check it again. Goodluck, Unsolved |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by Sean_C on Jul 30th, 2004, 5:56pm Look for the pinch on the left arm, that followed by shortness of breath, that followed by strange people looking over you going "I'm not giving him mouth to mouth you do it", "I'm not doing it you do it", "no you", "no you" ;;D Please don't do any abortives until you get that lowered or they could be your last. If you are sitting or lying down when checking BP, even having your feet or legs crossed can give an extremely high reading for an otherwise normal BP. I found this out at a dentist office. I was 170ish/100. Three times tested by the nurse with similar numbers. The dentist tells me to uncross my legs. Immediately, he tells the nurse to check it again. 120/60... Blew my mind. Chris |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by Rick_K on Jul 31st, 2004, 10:22pm 199/117 Holy crap !!! Get it checked out. I rang the bell at 180/100 back in the 70's. Been on BP meds ever since and it's under control. This is not something you want to screw around with. Tell you doc and keep an eye on it. |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by echo on Aug 2nd, 2004, 9:20am Update: Stopped by the cardiologist on the way home Friday. They connected me to one of their automatic machines and let it do it's thing. As it did it's thing the alarms started going off, the nurse simply said "Holy Shit!", the doc heard the noise and came in the room. Blood pressure was 205 /123. The Doc had me take some meds and rechecked me after 30 min. Pressure was then 178 / 86 and let me go home. Gave me samples and a RX with another appointment for 2 weeks out for a recheck. I've noticed the ringing in my ears is better and my nose has quit hurting as well. The real bitch was the 2:30am visit and not being able to do anything about it but pace, rock, swear and sweat. |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by UN_SOLVED on Aug 2nd, 2004, 9:26am With a BP of 205 /123 , you should've been given an injection to bring the BP down fast. That (BP level) is treading on dangerous ground. It can be tolerated for a while ... but side effects can include stroke / heart attack ! (1) What meds did your doc put you on to 'control' the BP and (2) Are you using triptans or other BP raising meds that maybe causing this elevated BP ? Unsolved |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by echo on Aug 2nd, 2004, 9:44am Can't remember the name of the new BP drug. Purple with three white stripes. Not taking any triptans either. I don't know the reason for it being so high. My wife does -- I smoke to much, I drink to much and I'm overweight (or fat ass as she puts it) Pep -- O2 dosen't do a thing for me.. |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by Gator on Aug 2nd, 2004, 9:55am Echo, take care of yourself, man. You got a lot of clusterheads on the edge of their seats. Keep us posted. The fish aquarium is a good idea. I have one and it does help. I spend a lot of time just sitting in my chair watching the fish swim about. Kind of zones you out, like looking into a fire in the fireplace. Gator |

Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by Carl_D on Aug 2nd, 2004, 12:35pm Damn! Been worried about ya. Title: Re: Blood Pressure Post by Charlie on Aug 2nd, 2004, 8:58pm Yikes. Glad you got to the Doc. Scary numbers. Have to wonder if you have a little white coat syndrome? We all do to some extent I guess. Even letting your jaw go slack can sometimes lower BP readings...not trying to give you excuses though because those readings are up there. Gotta stop editing your "Real Sex" HBO collections before a reading. ::) Charlie |
