Title: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Roxy on Jul 30th, 2004, 2:26pm A few weeks ago, while Greg and I were on a storm, my youngest son calls to tell us he's been shot. After my heart stopped and then adrenaline kicked through my body, he informs me that he was shot with a pellet gun. After a few choice words for scaring the sh*t out of me, he told me it hurt like hell, and he and his buddies kicked the shooter out of the party. Obviously the idiot had pointed the gun, pulled the trigger and then in surprise, said he didn't think it was loaded. I promptly forgot about the adventure. I've been shot before and it just bounced off the skin. When I got back home, Tyler tells me that the nerves in his leg are doing weird things..tingling, numb, sharp pains...etc....now including his foot. I asked him slowly..."Are you telling me it broke the skin?" Well duh, Mom.....put a hole in my jeans. Off to the doctor for xrays. We don't see them, just get a phone call saying the pellet is still in the leg. Appointment now set up with the surgeon. We stop at the hospital to pick up the xrays. I pull the film out in the truck....low and behold, the lead pellet is a good 3 1/2 inches into his calf, stopped by the bone and nicely enmeshed in all the nerves running behind the bone. My husbands musings..."Well, maybe I'll call the shooters family, and they can pay for whatever's left after insurance." We hear a throat clearing in the backseat of the truck....."uh....uh.....uh, well, ya know...uh....we kinda held him down and shot him back." [smiley=ohjez.gif] [smiley=ohjez.gif] [smiley=ohjez.gif] [smiley=ohjez.gif] [smiley=ohjez.gif] The surgeon laughs, says she's glad they shot the kid who shot Tyler, and then sends us off to the orthopedic surgeon. I was thinking a small incision, pop out the pellet, and he'd be good to go. She wouldn't even touch it, says it needs to be done by someone who does legs all the time. Obviously this is going to be a major ordeal. He'll miss work, be broke (like that is something new)....arrrrgggghhhhh. DAMN KIDS......... ::) He's proud of the xray report.....it says "gunshot" wound. Now do you want to hear the story of the rabid skunk in the front yard this week??? LOLOL Edited because I can't type and spell at the same time. |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by kimmiedawn81 on Jul 30th, 2004, 2:31pm Roxy, wouldn't your life be so boring if you didn't have kids though? Plus our life would be boring to, because you wouldn't have those kinds of funny stories to tell us. I hope that everything goes well though. Kids will be kids. ~Kim |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Jeepgun on Jul 30th, 2004, 2:32pm Oh gawd.... That sounds like the kind of shit we used to do when I was a kid. It's amazing none of us ever got killed, and yeah, I'd like to hear about the rabid skunk! LOL I had a pissed-off oppossum in my backyard the other day, and ended up having to shoot him... I was never so relieved as when the doctor delivered my baby, held her up, and said, "Mr. Weeden, you've got yourself a little girl." (God forbid I should ever have a son that turns out to be the kind of boy I was!) :o |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Roxy on Jul 30th, 2004, 2:48pm Kim, boring never happens out at this place. Just this week: Hot water heater went out. Few little things happening with OUCH. I was chased by a rabid skunk. My 62 year old cleaning woman was arrested, and we had to make bail for her. I didn't get rained out playing golf, and I needed it to happen....LOL. We had to rubber band twenty baby guinea's legs together.....that's not as easy as it sounds.....LOL. |

Not sure, but I'm guessing he's walking around with a pellet in his calf. I'm just glad they had the sense to shoot him in the same place. I had visions of them aiming at his head. :o |

ROTFLMAO.....I'm sorry Margi, guess I should have inserted the word "fowl" after guinea.... [smiley=crackup.gif]. We are overrun with snakes, ticks, scorpions, grasshoppers, crickets. These babies are supposed to take care of this problem for us. We have them in a kids little plastic swimming pool right now, they are only two weeks old. Even with shavings the slick bottom was making their legs splay.....so....rubber bands. Trust me....the little sneaky things have sharp beeks for two weeks old, and they don't like rubber bands. Never again...LOL...... ;;D. Now I'm off to watch the Rangers beat the hell out of Oakland.... GO RANGERS!!!!! |

well, trust ME too, Roxy - I'd probably sharpen MY beak if ya tried to rubber band MY legs together too! poor lil guys! LMAO Wouldn't it have been easier to just take 'em outta the pool? edit: things are scary in Texas, man. All that for splayed legs. HOLY! :o I mean, we're talking emotionally scarred birds here. |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by 9erfan on Jul 30th, 2004, 5:13pm Geez Trace! Would you please tell Tyler to stay out of trouble?? I'm kinda interested in what the housekeeper did to get herself locked up! This town you live in sounds pretty damn crazy. When you come to SF again, it will be tame in comparison! V. |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Jul 30th, 2004, 5:39pm Is sure explains why some species eat their young. ;;D He's such a good looking kid though, which I expect will take him places, even when he's in a peck of trouble. Good luck with the boy and the banding of the guineas! Your life does sound pretty busy! You'll look back on all of this someday and smile and even miss "those days"! Carol |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Charlie on Jul 31st, 2004, 12:50am Ouch. Lots of us got hit by unloaded pellet guns when we were kids. They can do real damage. Dumbness. Wonder if mine still has some CO2? Careful kids. Charlie |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by Carl_D on Jul 31st, 2004, 1:00am Dayum! Reminds me of my buddy Fred when we were kids. He was accidently shot with my pellet gun (I was NOT the 'triggerman' but it was my 'firearm'). It missed his eyeball by like a 1/4 inch. He was also lucky my Co2 cartridge was low and weak. He recovered nicely, though is half deaf (not related to the 'shooting') As funny as it all is, in this day and age, no matter what age your kid is, it's not a good idea to play with air pistols out in public. Some cops have mistaken them for actual firearms and actually shot kids because of it. Happened with a 11 year old Cahokia, IL boy about two years ago. Peace, Carl D P.S. - He has your grin Rox |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by cootie on Jul 31st, 2004, 1:59am Was gonna ask where they shot the shooter.......I woulda picked some place new.....to remember me by. Blahhhh-ha-ha-ha !! I am familiar with the leg problem with foul.....esp ducks........we call puppies 'swimmers' if born and keot on a smooth surface and legs all splay out. 9which isn't exactly cool) Wouldn't dirt or sand flooring in the pool be easier ? Beak pecked Pam |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by catlind on Jul 31st, 2004, 10:49pm Hell when my brother and I were teens we didn't accidentally shoot anyone, we set out to shoot each other :) Each got 3 pellets and a 100 count, then you had to hunt the person down and shoot them within 3 shots. My brother made the mistake of letting me go first thinking a) I'd never track him, (I spent my entire time in that bush lot) and b) if I found him I'd never have good enough aim to hit him. He was wrong [smiley=smug.gif] Where's the sport in shooting someone in a house? Hell there's no tracking skills involved! Now the guineas....well rubber bands and legs...that sounds kinda kinky to me even by Texas standards. ;) Cat |

Title: Re: Gunshot wound.....LOL Post by brain_cramps on Jul 31st, 2004, 11:31pm When I was about 12, about 5 of us were in a friend's front yard playing with a pellet pistol. The guy that lived there was spinning the gun on his finger, "playing Roy Rogers" ::) He accidentally shot himself in the balls. While he was rolling around on the grass howling in agony, the rest of us were rolling around on the grass howling in hysterics. His dad came out of the house to find out WTF was going on. When he realized what had happened, he picked up his son, threw him in the car and took him to the hospital. After all these years, his dad still rolls his eyes when we meet. ;;D |

Bet Mike wouldn't like it either...... ;;D. My little cleaning woman, bless her heart....climbed into the car with her son's girlfriend. The little town they were in (my hometown) has raised racial profiling into art form. They were stopped for no reason, and the girlfriend had half of a joint in her purse. Four women arrested for that....... ::). I'm still trying to figure out how they searched her purse. Not sounding very procedurally correct to me. |
