Some of you may know that I am writing a book which is a fictional account of a cluster sufferer. It has been on the backburner for quite awhile, due to some aggravating writers block (this will undoubtedly be the hardest book I ever write.)
The working title thus far has been "Snapped."

I left NashCon with a new thirst to get this book DONE! So, I have been writing and editing again (whew!) The book was almost done when an evil ex roomie sabotaged me and I lost 3/4s of my work. It made me want to give up and take a "Fukidol" geltab.

I was talking with my sis in law last night about the title. I'm not sure if it should be called "Snapped" or what. The other idea I threw at her was "In My Head" and she still liked Snapped better. However, in my throes of renting the sheets for the last few hours TRYING LIKE BLOODY HELL to accomplish just a few Zzz's, another title hit me in the noggin that has a deeper meaning, I think, to those of us who know the beast firsthand. So, I am taking a vote. What title do you like better?

"Snapped"

"In My Head"

or my other brainstorm,

"Beyond The Shadows"

IMHO....Depending on the cover artwork and/or typical 'back of the book' synopsis.....I think "Beyond The Shadows" would peak ones interest.

Brother Carl...I must agree with Brother Dan.....again.. ;;D "Beyond the Shadows" sound kinda Steven Kingish.....and adds to the "evil" nature of the beast.

I like, "Beyond The Shadows," too. Best wishes with it, Carl. You are so talented... I know you can get past this writer's block. "Wild Mind," and "Writing Down The Bones," by Natalie Goldberg, are the very best books I've ever read on the art and craft of writing. Good luck!

I like "Beyond the Shadows" as the title also, but somebody else has used that title for a book on alcoholism.  

Being only a reader and not a writer/publiser I wasn't sure if the title had to be unique.

Ahhh. Easily remedied. There are many stories with similar names, so as not to confuse, I can use that title and just drop the S.

The reason I thought of it is, we all know what "shadowing" is, and we all know what that eventually leads to, and the beast that comes from it. I guess that's why it was kind of my fave, but wanted someone elses opinion on it.

I like "Beyond the Shadows."  

I don't know about the name of the book thing, but I'd be willing to bet there are different books out there with the same titles.

You could just drop the s on shadows or I suppose if it came down to it, you could call it "The Beast Beyond the Shadows" or something like that.

Hmmm.

That might be a good idea for the chapter of Wyatt's first full blown hit. The chapters aren't really titled yet (loosely.)

Just a thought, I like the Shadows title, but...

Outside this community, CHrs never heard the term shadow.

Outside this community, Drs don't know what a shadow is.

How right you are my friend. That is why when Wyatt finds the CH community (which he finds online and learns quickly by befriending a longtime CH'er named Jakob) all of these things will be explained to him.
I'm writing this book for many purposes: hopefully to launch my authorship, entertain, AND educate the unknowing public. That has been my intent from the birth of the idea. I already asked DJ long ago if I can put "Clusterheadaches.com" in the book, though all names and posts will be fictional. I thought that would be a bonus if readers decided to look and see if there really is a website called that, and stumble upon us.
As Jonny said, if somebody picks up the book and decides to do a movie on it, it'll blow the doors open to the understanding of CH by the common public.
One can only hope that day will come.

I have to add: Before finding CH.com - I had been a ch sufferer for many years, but didn't know why they weren't going away this time. It wasn't until a friend did an online search and found this site for me that I learned what 'episodic' and 'chronic' was, or shadows. I could finally put a name to what was happening to me after 12 years of feeling like a freek all alone. This site educated me in ways that my Dr at the time couldn't. It also let me know - I am not alone.

I'm not going to suggest actual titles but I think it would be good to use "cluster (s)" in some form....not to define the content but as a hook.

Just an idea.

You cannot copyright a title the last I heard so not to worry.

Thanks guys! When that title came to me this morning (wait, what day IS it?) I knew that was it, just wanted some inpu...er, advice.
