Title: Shadow of a shadow?
Post by Jeepgun on Jul 28th, 2004, 8:52am
Last night, prior to going to sleep, I felt that old familiar pressure behind my right eye. The thing is, it only seemed to go to a Kip 1, and went no further. I'm not in cycle right now, (at least, I don't think I am!) but what the hell is this thing? Just a little caress from the Beast, saying, "Don't get too comfy, sh!thead, 'cause I'm still lurking in your head and when I wake up from my little nap, I'm going to ram a drill into your eye!"

Anyone else experience this?

Just for about the last 8 months, all the friggin' time, both sides too, just enough to aggrivate me. >:(

That tiny "tweak".......yes, i've felt them.  I felt them since April -intermittently - almost imperceptible - but just enough to get my ears pricked foward and sniffin the winds a bit...

Here is the thing.  Two weeks ago i went into cycle full blast.

Pay attention to the tweaks.

Damn.. I'm so sorry you're going through that, Thomas and Kim. They aren't particularly painful, but you're forever wondering if they're going to manifest in a full-blown cluster...  :(

The thing is, my usual cycle begins at the end of August, but last year, I skipped and got hit in the spring instead. Now I don't know what to expect!  [smiley=huh.gif]

Yep. It's just the beast's way of getting you to start looking over your shoulder. Usually for me it marks the start of a cycle within a few weeks.

I am with Kim...pay attention to the tweaks.
Although that is what the beast wants...just to make us paranoid and rule our everyday.  The creep!

Sounds like the beast is trying to show you he can still fuck with you. I hope it doesn't go any further than that. [smiley=hug.gif]  I'm so sorry he's making his presence known...

Thanks... So far, just one little twinge. If I'm due to go into cycle again, I'll get through it...  :-/

Frank my dear. I would make sure you have everything you need just incase. If  you want to try my doc in Clarksville let me know and I'll give you her info. She's the best I have found so far in the Nashville region.
Here's to hoping though that it was just the beast farting in his sleep :-* :-*

Thank you, Jayne. So far, my GP has been marvelous, but if that should change, I'll definitely be needing a new doctor. The other thing I noticed last night, was that my body temperature briefly began to climb. I felt feverish, then the twinge, and then all quiet again...  [smiley=confused2.gif] I guess time will tell... Thanks again.

Frank,
I’ve been getting some of those warning signs this summer and my cycles don’t start until fall….wtf is up with that? About a month ago I was getting dinged EVERY night at about the same time (11:00pm) for about 10 days in a row. It scared the hell out of me but it eventually stopped and everything’s been OK since….but I’m treading lightly and ready to take action just in case.
Hoping yours was a fluke and you remain pf.

Jim

Frank,

I'm sorry to hear that the demon is letting you know that he'd love to stick a rusty hot spike into your cranium and......Damn, where is Dark Angel when I need him?

All year I have been aware of my 'spot'... a slight pressure where my CH lives.  Kind of a shadows shadow... nothing on the KIP scale.

Something changed... I guess that is why I had 2+ episodes this year, which is what I normally have in 5 years.

Was about to start episode #3 for the year when I did the shrooms.  Epsisode cancelled ( [smiley=thumb.gif]), with just an occasional tickle on my CH spot.

I would not be adverse to trying shrooms. I don't want to get stoned. I just want the pain to stop. I can handle having one cycle a year, as awful as CH is. Two cycles a year, or becoming chronic? No way... At that point, I would be flat-out desperate for relief.

Hey Jeep,

I wouldn't worry too much about a cycle starting unless you actually get hit. Shadows seem to come and go all the time for me. It's hardly ever a cycle until the Beast pops his nastly tormenting face into my eyeball. Be prepared at all times though. As you  know, ya never know.

Thank you. I've been feeling apprehensive all morning, but not so much as a whisper from the Beast. *keeping my fingers crossed*

Best of luck to you Frank.  The amount taken for shrooms is very small in comparison to a "Recreational" dose (or at least should be).

And yes, I hate dosing and feeling anxious for 3 or 4 hours, but it surely beats these headaches.

Is there such a thing as an episodic/chronic? I have been chronic for 4 years and for a  whole month I had nothing. No hits, no shadows...nothing! It was glorious! Then 2 weeks ago I started getting hit again. It hasn't been to bad.A few tweaks and only 1 kip 7 or so - the other 5 or 6 times around kip 3. I understand your not chronic if you have a period of 2 weeks without a hit. I still feel chronic though. pfdan glen

I think you still fall into the Chronic arena Mac.  No meds, greater than 14 days between hits over the period of a year defines Eposodic I believe.  Could be wrong however, I'm married -- so that shows I can be wrong from time to time.

...these types of shadows are ,for me, indicative of what kind of cycle will be coming....they have changed a lot over the yrs ,  always stuck with me all year round, but would start mutating just before cycle...I have koped solo against the beast (til 2mth ago),    and only relyed on those hints to kinda know what to expect....Always be prepared my friend!   >>>For years, before I had a name for the beast, I would joke arond by saying that someone must have a "voodoo doll" of me ,and they'd poke ,needle and beat up on it , and once in a while would really got to work on IT .... it's nice to have foud another explaination!!              ......Pfd,.....................Axel

So.... What do those kinds of shadows tell you about what kind of cycle you're going to have, Axel? (wondering if I really want to know, in case it bodes poorly...)  :-/

LOL Echo!  BTDT  [smiley=laugh.gif]

IHS changed the chronic standards, lengthening the pain free time to a month.  Now if you go over a year with less than a month's pain free time, you are still chronic.

Frank, sorry to hear the beast is creeping around your house.  He's been living here at my house for 9 months now.  He's been getting his meals here, so maybe he just went out for dessert and stepped on your face on his way home.

Oh well....  ;;D When I was episodic often outside the cluster I had shadows... but the beast didn’t explode in my head... becoming chronic I have noticed that when I have shadows, then in about 2-3 minutes an attack starts almost all the times... ;;D :-/ :'(

BTW Happy Jeep.... it is just an headache... stay hard!

A thought to whom is suffering now..... I am sorry...

Thank you, Zazi. So far, all is well. If I have a real cluster headache, I'm going to see my doctor and get some Verapamil. Thanks everyone, for all of your well wishes.

Love ya's!  :) [smiley=hug.gif]
