Title: Thought I'd share... Post by Redd715 on Jul 26th, 2004, 7:45am I used to be involved in an online crisis chat room for people going threw very messy and painful breakups and/or divorces. I haven't really gone there much recently as I've spent my time here and in the headache chatroom after my diagnosis. So I posted an apology there yesterday explaining what has been going on as the other councelors there knew of my battle with the beast. Well one of the heartbroken members posted the following to me, and I just needed to share the laugh with you all. Redd, I hate that you are in such pain. I said a prayer for you and will continue. have you tried magnet therapy? My pain in my back totally went away because I wear a magnet anklet 24/7. God Bless and take care! Trin More education needed!!!!!!!!! |

Title: Re: Thought I'd share... Post by Jeepgun on Jul 26th, 2004, 8:17am LOL! "After wearing a magnet bracelet around my neck for a couple of days, my headaches went away too. In fact, so did every other ache in my body. A thoroughly unexpected side-benefit, was that I no longer have to bother with that pesky 'breathing thing' anymore! I'm so happy, and so dead. Thanks, sweetie!" [smiley=laugh.gif] ;;D [smiley=headbanger.gif] |

Title: Re: Thought I'd share... Post by don on Jul 26th, 2004, 9:08am I've always been afraid of magnet therapy because of the plate in my head. Then the Doc told me it was a paper plate. "Dixie" brand I believe. Left over from his Labor Day bar-b-que. |

Title: Re: Thought I'd share... Post by Redd715 on Jul 27th, 2004, 10:08pm Hey guys we have a new thing to try Red, Thought this might help as well. DL-PHENYLALANINE - 500 mg - 60's DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA) is an essential amino acid, meaning the body produces this from the diet. DLPA is a mirror image of the amino acid phenylalanine, it shares a lot of the same benefits as phenylalanine, but in the DL form, its properties for controlling pain naturally are truly amazing. It has been shown by several researchers to be far more effective in the control of pain than almost any other analgesic on the market. The only problem from the analgesic stand-point is that it requires anywhere from seven to fourteen days to be effective for relieving most pain. It is not a fast acting pain killer and should not be expected to produce results for some short duration pains that may last only a few hours, headache or slight sprain, for example. However once pain relief effects are established, they can last for extremely long periods after discontinuing, since they stayed stored within the body and are called upon when needed. Another short term analgesic (such as White Willow), with anti-inflammatory properties must be taken in conjunction with DLPA in order to alleviate the short term pain, giving DLPA time to activate the natural pain-killing systems within the body. The two such elements, a short- term analgesic and DLPA, taken in combination biologically compliment each other and become one of the most effective OTC weapons available to fight rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis, migraine, menstrual cramps, lower back and joint pain, postoperative pain, and neuralgia. It has been discovered that the human brain responds to pain by producing and activating morphine-like hormones, called endorphins. These hormones constitute the active portion of a naturally built-in pain relief system. DLPA operates to protect this pain relief system from certain destructive enzymes (carboxypeptidase A and enkephalinase enzymes). DLPA consequently allows the pain relief system to exert its powerful pain-relieving influence for an extended period of time. DLPA has other features such as, anti-depressant, weight control, stress, appetite suppressant, and mood elevator. In conclusion DLPA is a very effective painkiller, it is safe for long term use with no know toxicity levels, so therefore toxic overdose is impossible. It is important to know that DLPA does not cure the disease, which causes the pain, you must continue your other therapies. The dosage recommended: two capsules of 500 mg, three times per day, thirty to forty minutes before meals for a period of seven days. Thereafter, a maintenance dosage of two capsules a day should be taken. DLPA is not recommended for use by pregnant or lactating women or phenylkertonerics (PKU). Those suffering from high blood pressure should take their tablets immediately after meals. |

Title: Re: Thought I'd share... Post by BarbaraD on Jul 27th, 2004, 10:17pm Ok, you want remedies -- The "worst" one I ever got was from a "witch doctor" in Venezuela. Bill brought it home with him..... Take a banana and peel it - throw away the fruit part. Place the banana peels (stickey side down) on your forehead (ok I used a headband to hold them on). Wear them until the pain ceases. The banana peels are now three years old!!! :-/ Fruit flies were bad for a while, but after a few days left me alone!!!!! As far as the "natural" vitamins and herbs are concerned -- betcha I've tried all of them.... So far nada. But, like everyone else -- I'll keep trying anything -- Are we all NUTZ????? Naw - it's just a headache.... :-* Hugs BD |
