Title: Questions: Ice packs, bubblers Post by Peppermint on Jul 24th, 2004, 9:39am At the convention, Leesa gave out a recipe for ice packs that don't freeze all the way. Has anyone tried it out? Here it is: All American Ice Packs, easy to use, easy to make - 1 cup 90% rubbing alcohol 2 cups of water Place in freezer & chill - Won't FREEZE. Might work better than a stomped on bag of peas that got lumped together like a rock. Bubblers: Other than a medical supply web site, has anyone been able to get them at your 02 supplier? Trying to get some info now, but thought this might be quicker. Thanks. |

Title: Re: Questions: Ice packs, bubblers Post by Jeepgun on Jul 24th, 2004, 2:04pm Thanks for the recipe, Pep. As soon as I got home from the convention, that's one of the first things I did. Matter of fact, it came in quite handy when I came in from mowing the lawn, all hot and sweaty. :) |

Did it work well? Did it dissolve really quickly or was it gel-like? I haven't tried it b/c I haven't gotten out of the house to buy alcohol. [smiley=bulb2.gif] Now that I think about it , I think I'll experiment and add some no flavor gelatin to it (something like you do with jello shots) .. that will be a cheap way to make a gel pack because the really good ones aren't cheap. |

Title: Re: Questions: Ice packs, bubblers Post by CarrieBethRN on Jul 24th, 2004, 2:13pm Pep, I'll try to make the ice pack when I get back to my apartment tomorrow. I only have one ice pack there anyhow, and it doesn't stay cold for very long, so I'm anxious to try this one out!!! Thanks very much again to you and Bill about the bubbler. You guys ROCK! ;;D Luv, Carrie/Lizzie :) |

Title: Re: Questions: Ice packs, bubblers Post by Jeepgun on Jul 24th, 2004, 2:16pm It remains slushy, and soft enough to mold to the contours of the head, neck, or face. :) (Come to think of it, I've been told to wear a bag over my face before going out...) [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Questions: Ice packs, bubblers Post by Peppermint on Jul 24th, 2004, 2:16pm Carrie.... [smiley=ohjez.gif] :P K, again credit where credit is due... that was the recipe that Leesa included in the OUCH bags at the convention. I think the gelatin might work too... its like making jello shots but you can't eat the end result. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... LMAO Frank. |
