I am aware that CH's affect mainly men, but my wife is been recently struck by crippling headaches (they last almost all day) with no known cause. They always occur in the very back of her head. She can feel every beat of her heart in her head, but the doctors don't feel they are clusters since there isn't too much eye involvement. Has anyone had similar symptoms with their CH's??

Headaches that last all day are VERY unlikely to be CH.
There are quite a few headache syndromes that do last all day e.g. migraine, hemicrania continua, chronic daily headache.

Your best bet is to get your wife to a good neuro who specialises in headache conditions

I would also urge caution at the moment about using any of the triptan family of drugs until you get a diagnosis as there is a migraine variant called BAM (basilar arterial migraine) which emanates from the base of the skull and can cause strokes. Triptan use increases this risk. Bam sufferers normally experience some paralysis and tingling in extremities if that helps you at all.

Based on the symptoms you describe, I would say that absolutely rules out CH.

By, "fealing her heartbeat in her head", I am guessing a throbing type pain. (not CH)

By, "They always occur in the very back of her head". (not CH)

"they last almost all day" (not CH) -- Although we get numerous attacks during the day, each one normally lasts no more than 3 hours.

Get her to a HA doc!

I have to agree with Wendy and Chris, your wife does not have cluster headaches. And like they both said get her to a headache specialist.

And if you can't get an appointment with a neuro, check with her primary care physician ASAP.

How's her blood pressure?
