Title: WTF??? Just once I'd like a fuken break.
Post by Gator on Jul 2nd, 2004, 11:46pm
As most of you know, my son is coming home on leave this weekend.  We had a big time party planned for his homecoming and his 20th birthday which is July 4th.  All his old friends from Stillwater and Enid were going to be there.  A real shindig.  I just got notified my wife's most favorite aunt in the whole world died today.  I loved that lady as if she were my own aunt.  Not only did I have to break it to my wife - not a pretty scene - but, my son gets to come home to a fucken funeral instead of a party.

Wucking fonderful!

Gator
You won't be the only one not whooping it up this 4th, Ree.  $hit!

My deepest sympathy dear friend.  As was said she is in a better place, and she will never really be gone.  She lives on in memories of all the wonderful times, and special person she was.  All the best to you and your family in your time of sorrow.  Read the tag line... hope it helps you in your grief.

Gator, my heart bleeds for your pain and suffering in this trying time.  As you know, I just went through this with my mother.  The attitude I took, that helped me, was not to look at it as a mourning period, but a period of celebration.  A celebration of her life.  My mother was lucky enough to have lived for 82 years.  There were great things to celebrate in those years.  I felt so good to hear from her old high school buddies, family, and life long friends, of her life.

It was great to relive her life, and to tell my own stories of her.  Even when she beat my ass (of course it was ALWAYS a mistake, as I was such a good child!) (NOT!).  My mother was wonderful, talented, energetic, and as all mothers can be, a pain in the ass, at times, too.  I am sure you can remember these sorts of times with this special lady, too.

My mother had a wonderful life, as a whole.  I am sure this special Aunt, did also.  Celebrate the life she had.  I know you mourne her loss to you and your family, but rejoice in the times that you had with her.  Never forget them.

Remember, she will never leave you.  She will always be in your heart.

Chuck

So sorry for your loss. It's kinda good that your son will be home so you can all be together when you'll need eachother the most.  Your son would probably feel worse if he couldn't come home to be there for you and your wife.  Keep your head up.

And happier birthday's will come...(21)  ;)

Rats.

Sorry to hear Gator. You're right; it seems you never get a break. This stuff doesn't seem to have a schedule.  :(

I hope you at least get to enjoy the family.

All my best,

Charlie

Gator,

I'm sure if this aunt was a the kind of person you describe, though it will be sad, I'm am sure your son or none of you would think of a higher priority at this time than being at the funeral.  He will see all his family, who will all be glad to see him.  You will have a shorter time together with him, but I am sure you will make the most of your time together.  Thoughts to you Gator.

To my Cluster Family, I would truly like to thank you for all the kind words and warm sentiment.  My heart is touched and my burden lifted a little to know there is someone I can turn to for advice or just to vent.

My son made it home and we have had a reasonably pleasant visit so far.  He and his brothers are actually getting along - something they never did when he was a kid.  It's amazing to me to see the maturity in him after all those years of wondering if he'd ever grow up.

Again, thanks to you all.

Gator
