Got your ticket for Mega millions?

What would you do with it if you won?

Even if you dont have a ticket...what would you do with 290 million dollars?

Pay off all my bills and college loans-buy land and build my dream house, invest for the kid's college, invest enough to live on the rest of my life, including provisions for the rising cost of medical care.  fund CH research so we might be able to find a cure on our lifetimes.

for spelling

I'd give at least a million to ouch.
Between 500k and a mill to each of my immediate family.
Buy a few mansions in a few different locales.
At least 2 nice cars for each mansion...

And live well off of interest.
Travel, travel, travel...

Oh yeah! And goto Vegas and see what it's like to be treated like a whale!

That's such an obscene amount of money - but I would treat myself to a candy apple red 1966 Mustang convertible with white leather upholstery.  I can see it now!

After that - it would be stuff for family and a cook for me cause I hate cooking!!!!!

I'd commision a 100' Hattaras yacht, hire a crew and spend the rest of my life hopping from tropical island to tropical island.

For her christening voyage, I'd have a "Who wants to be a Millionaire" party. I'd invite everyone on these boards. Someone would go home a millionaire and everyone would go home a little richer.

Oh and by the way, I did buy a ticket!

I would preserve my sanity.

How?

I would quit my job and invest in myself... to improve myself... so I no longer have to work a fucking, mind-numbing, dead-end job, that I can't escape.  God, my mind is nearly gone.

But before I do that, I would remove my grandma from her poor living conditions.  I would give her a place to live.

I just can't imagine that much money.  I'd pay off all my debts.  Everyone in my family would have a new house and a new car.  All the kids and grandkids would have serious college funds set up.

I'm thinking I would fund quite a bit of research into clusters and a few other ailments.  After that, I'd be a traveling fool until I just got too old to enjoy it.

ROFL! Seriously, though: I'm very content with my life and although working for a living is often a real pain in the ass, it keeps the rhythm of my life intact. Having won that kind of money, what real good would it do you? It would take the challenge out of life, turn a lot of people around you into false friends, and that money would become the focal point around which your life revolved.

Nope. I'd flush it. :)

Then again, I've been accused several times of being insane. Hrmmm... Maybe. Maybe not. *arching one eyebrow*

If I won that amount of money, I would dedicate my life to becoming a professional consumer, streamline my purchasing processes and upgrade my existing entertainment/comfort infrastructure.   Most importantly, I would 'do it' with two girls at the same time. (no offense ladies)

A former good friend of mine was at one time the largest lottery winner in the country at about 360mil.  Needless to say, haven't seen him since.  But the first year was dreadful.  His house was constantly a source of news and all kinds of people hanging around that he never knew, asking for money.  His mailbox was full of requests everyday.  He moved of course, gave 10mil to a cancer research center, gave his construction company to his employees and built a lavish poolhall for all his friends to play at.
One divorce, one suicide attempt later he is doing real good now.  He was a great guy, but it is a whole lot to get through.
He went into a 7-11 and wanted a hotdog and only had a hundred.  Told the clerk to give him the 99 dollars change in lottery tickets as a whim.
With conservative investing, interest is 365 thou a month for a long, long time on what's left after all his family is set up for life and other things.  Vegas treats him very well.  We used to have a blast when we were younger.  I was glad he won.

Wow Kevin, you knew him.  He was pretty famous, I am willing to  bet most adults in the country remember that.  The last I heard he got like 100,000 stolen out of his car, he likes to roll the dice I guess.  Seems like a very nice guy though, I did not know he gave his company to the employees.

Thanks for sharing that, very interesting.

We were on the same pool team for many years and he would come to my house on weekends for several years.  We partied a lot together, had a blast.  I guess he has more than enough friends now.
I know he was known in Michigan, his name is Larry Ross.  Real nice guy.

wow Kevin, that's a story.

I have a small one.

We had some neighbours next door and our kitchens connected. (This was when I lived at home in England).
Well the people next door were always arguing. My mum and I would put a glass to the adjoining wall and listen in and have a good laugh. They would fight everyday.
Well, they won the English version of the lottery. They won one million pounds. The house next door fell silent for a week for the fist time in years.
A week later the fighting started...mum and I rushed to get a glass and place it on the wall. We couldn't beleive our ears....they were fighting about how to spend the money. We almost urinated laughing.
They moved out two months later never to be seen by us again.

Kevin, Jayne-

Thanks to both of you. I always wondered (as I'm sure all of us have) what it would be like to suddenly come into that kind of money. You never really know, I guess. No doubt, there's a lot of truth in what Jeep says. I still find it hard to believe that you could flush that much money down the toilet!

Kevin and Jayne, thanks for two different glimpses into what it might be like. :)

Hmmm what to do with that kind of money....

First research into clusters would get a huge financial insurgence.  Second there isn't a clusterhead here that woudln't be at the convention ;)

After that I would set up what's left of my biological family and make sure my kids had trust funds that would fund any education they chose to have.

I'd never buy anything on credit again.

Then I'd have to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up :)

I would help fund a few different kinds of medical research, CH included. Our close relatives would have  nice Christmas presents (checks). Then, I would invest half of it for retirement (in an offshore account). Then my husband will burn through the rest of it as fast as he can, just because it's there. If there is anything left when we're gone, it will be donated to medical research and animal welfare.
