Title: CatLind (DHE this weekend) Post by Anthem on Jun 26th, 2004, 8:40am Cat went in yesterday to start a three-day treatment of DHE. It happened pretty quick. She had a Dr's appointment yesterday at 1100am and was admitted for the DHE by 7PM. Hopefully, if all goes well, she could be pain free for some extended time ;;D (I guess Don went 3 years PF after DHE??). She won't be back home until Monday evening (if all goes well). Best regards, Clark |

Title: Re: CatLind (DHE this weekend) Post by catlind on Jun 30th, 2004, 8:06pm Hi folks They let me loose finally :) The bad part is that I started having chest pains and a *ahem* slightly elevated blood pressure (normal bp for me is 90's/60's it hit 209/156 :o ) so they had to discontinue the DHE. After 6 different IV sites that went bad, and managing to get a total of 3mg of DHE into me, we had to give it up. That was the condition of them letting me try it - even the slightest blip on the cardiac monitor was an immediate halt. While I was in the hospital and they were watching my astronomical blood pressure, it decided to go back to it's normal lows and bottomed out at 72/36 giving the poor nurses on the cardiac floor heart attacks of their own hehe. I just like to be difficult ;) Needless to say, it hasn't given me the reliefI hoped for, and they started a medrol taper, that doesn't seem to have helped but has turned me into a bitch from hell - gotta love the rage of steroids. I'm not giving up, and because it was a university hospital I got to educate 12 up and coming neuros and they learned alot ;) My neuro here is out of ideas and suggested surgery - gamma rhizotomy etc. but I'm not there yet, I told him about psilocin and he said if I could get into the trials he would back it and follow it with his students very carefully. They blew the entire network of veins in my arms so they couldn't do the steroid drip but I've let them know that there's still options out there. Unfortunately I couldn't convince them to let me use triptans again *sigh*. Ah well, I'll find the magic bullet, I know it's out there :) Hope all is well with everyone, and if you decide to do a DHE treatment - I hope you don't have as wacky a blood pressure as I do ;) Cat |

Grandma - that's the problem - Everytime I show up in hell they send me back - something about me taking over or some such thing ;) I was getting a little tired of the nurses asking me if I was being abused because of all the bruising and swelling on my arms and foot because of the IV's hehe, but a positive attitude and knowing that the end of the line is LONG way away help me carry on. I've spent my share of time on the pity pot and asking why me, and then Slammy and Jonny kicked my ass and got me over it, and now I see this challenge as a gift. I've been given friendships and love from a family that I would never have known if I'd not had CH. It's all in how ya look at it :) Cat |
