Title: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 25th, 2004, 9:36am Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... >:( Long time no post and what do I do? I come to the family to vent! Vent away you all say, so that's what I'm going to do! I'm now sitting here, for 1/2 an hour or more, waiting for my son to eat a bowl of ceral and 2 newtons for breakfast! Why am I pissed about that you ask..I'll tell you! Because MY daughter had to go and land herself in summer school, and now I only have limited amounts of time in between meals for my son to go and rush around doing what I need to get done. It doesn't help matters much when my son falls back to sleep every 5 seconds...and I've tried putting him at the kitchen table to eat, but he refuses. Did I speak to the Dr. about it? Yep! Sure did. He told me that not only is it difficult dealing with the diabetes, but he's at an age where EVERYTHING is hard - both for HIM AND US! What a rush! So then, I have to cut out his home schooling teachers 2 days a week, because then I will have NO time what so ever to do diddly squat anytime....(summer school, meal schedules and teachers) and then I have to do everything right around dinner time when Ken gets home so he can stay with the kids and I can do what I need to do. But then of course I miss dinner, and I'm starving when I get home. Then I have to wait until 10PM for a snack and GOD FORBID THE KING doesn't get his bed time snack at 10! Woah Nelly! I'm freaking tired come 9PM, so is Ken. 3AM readings for the last 3 months almost and working and commuting. HELLO!?!??! How old does a child have to be for IT'S brain to develop COMPASSION!?!??!?! Sheesh! Then...the pool. We got a pool installed on June 10th. It's now EMPTYING OUT ENTIRELY because the idiots who installed it did more screwing around and put it together 1/2 assed. The liner came ripping out, after all that beautiful weather and the temp staying at a GORGEOUS 74 degrees. So now, the thing has to be emptied, (10,000 gallons), then refilled and I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW! THE FREAKING NERVE!!!! God help this contractor if I have to wait....God help him. So now everytime I look at the pool (you know, on these beautiful muggy warm summer days) and know that I can't go in it because of someone else's screw up, and knowing that I have to WAIT...pisses me off beyond belief. And it's only June. Summer school sucks. This is the 3rd year IN A ROW that I'm waking up at 6AM to send a child off to summer school only to have HER TELL ME THAT IT'S FUN AND SHE LOVES IT and the 2 people in the WHOLE ENTIRE TOWN that I have spent 6 months trying to keep her away from ARE THERE WITH HER! LOL I gotta write a book. Hell, I may even use real names. Who would buy it anyway? Oh, and I'm chaning my last name to MURPHY! You know my law right? There's even a commercial on TV about it. I have to search the family tree...I MUST BE RELATED TO THIS MAN SOMEHOW!!! Thanks for listening. Sorry for the bitching, but I feel better now. :-/ Toni |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by echo on Jun 25th, 2004, 9:52am Vent away. Hope your day goes better and they get that pool filled, and it stays filled. The one thing that really does piss me off is when contractors do a half assed job. |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by Tiannia on Jun 25th, 2004, 10:35am Take a deep breathe. I know it sounds corny but it will get better. The summer school thing is the real hard part cause there is not anything you can do about who else is in the class. Sorry hun -Tia |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by suzy617 on Jun 25th, 2004, 1:24pm Toni, it does get better but not until your around 90 and your kids have to start running around for you. ;;D Seriously though, its the hardest job being a full time Mom and the pay sucks too. Hang in there girl, Suzy |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 25th, 2004, 1:53pm Thanks all. I really appreciate you taking the time out to post encouraging words to me. It helps. It really does. And it really helped by typing it all out this morning - and then having a clear head that I won't get shunned or blasted for doing it. I love this place...and I love you guys. I know it will get better, but I still can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. It still looks so dark! And the thing that sucks about everything is that we go through phases, for the last 4 years, Ken and I. It's like a month ago, I was headed for a nervous breakdown and talking to Leesa for HOURS on end (who was GREAT by the way...love you girl) and then things kind of worked themselves out...we got the pool...it was great...2 weeks go by - things seem to be getting better, then all of a sudden...BLAMMO! Shit starts hitting the fan OUT OF NOWHERE - and it doesn't stop either. It just keeps flying out in every direction, and there is nowhere to hide. Suzy...I know the pay sucks. But it's sad when the only pay you want for it is a Thank you, a hug, kiss and an I love you Mom at the end of the day...hell. I'll take once a WEEK or a MONTH even! I'm not greedy! It's holy hell raising kids. My father always told me it was no joke, and I didn't have kids as a joke, but it's really hard. I hear my parents words coming from MY LIPS almost DAILY. Brrrr...gives me the chills. LOL And Bob G. You made me laugh. LOL That's why I post here. I know a lot of you understand and give a shit. Giving a shit is a good thing..I give 2 shits about eveyrthing, I just wish I had more time to give to all of you.... Thanks again. I'm getting all emotional now. Much Love, Toni |

I know what you mean. There's been times when I hear myself say something and my first thought is "Oh my hell, I've turned into my mother". Frightening, very frightening! |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 25th, 2004, 3:02pm Yeah, that's REAL frightening...if you're sounding like your mother! You're a man...baby. LOL I think we ALL turn into our parents, just a little bit eventually. But it's not all a bad thing. What I've learned from having my own kids is that my parents knew their shit!!!! And I appreciate it NOW... I hated it when I was a kid, but it's such a vicious cycle. Things are a little better. I caved a bit because I was sick of hearing the "Mom...mom...mom...mom...mom..." etc... It's the weekend. Does EVERY DAY have to feel like a Monday? Ick! Toni |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by BobG on Jun 25th, 2004, 3:21pm I have a theory about men. When growing up, if your mother is the dominate parent you will turn into your mother. If your father is the dominate parent you will still turn into your mother. ;;D |

My oldest is just starting to learn this with his own daughter. Talk about poetic justice. You'll get there one day. Being a grandparent is great. Gator |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 25th, 2004, 3:35pm LOL I think you're onto something there... Gee thanks Bob...and I was just starting to feel better. With your theory, not only will _I_ turn into my mother, but my kids will turn into....ME???? UG! Thanks for making me chuckle Bob! hehe Much Love, Toni |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by Charlie on Jun 25th, 2004, 3:55pm Serial drinking and going postal are not viable options. The Foreign Legion used to be the answer but no more...... I hear my parents all the time too and realize that this is why I don't have kids. I'd be sharing a room with the Unibomber. Feel free to rant away. It's good for and keeps us on our toes. Charlie |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Jun 25th, 2004, 10:20pm Keep this in mind - Grandchildren are our best revenge! Your day will come and I promise you won't lose your sanity, or at least not permanently. It does however explain why some species eat their young!!!! Hang in there girl - before you know it you'll be wondering where these years went to. |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 26th, 2004, 8:28am My kids have already said that they aren't having children, but we all know THAT'S A LIE! Didn't we ALL say that when we were teenagers? Majority of us have them now, and for those who don't....well....I don't know what to say! May you live a long, healthy, happy stress free life! LOL Seriously, I vent - but I love my kids to pieces. It's just that I guess I don't remember how I felt at that age - but I remember going through the same things as a child. Thanks for all of the love and support guys! Oh, and for the approximately 679 people that I MAY have offended - I'm sorry, and it's been edited for public reading now. :P Toni |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 26th, 2004, 8:41am Thanks Bob. I'll keep saying that in my head all day..I promise! Pool guys are coming back today supposedly, still trying to empty over 10,000 gallons of water. We'll see what happens. Whatever happens, I will NOT let the kids get on my nerves today..I'm sure the pool guys will take care of that all on their own! :P I'm in a better mood today anyway... Toni |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by don on Jun 26th, 2004, 9:05am Stay healthy. You need to get old enough to spend all the inheritance and become a major inconveniance to them in the later years. At around 65 develop an aweful drinking problem, especially at family functions. At 70 wear the most obnoxious cloths and jewelry you can find and demand Saturday afternoon rides to the mall. 73-start using foul language...........loudly. A nice solid flatulence issue around 75 is good. |

Good advice but why wait until you're old. I'm starting tomorrow. I'm a smoker with a bad diet and killer headaches, I could die before I get old. Tomorrow I fart in church! [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by Ree on Jun 26th, 2004, 9:29am In August of last year my friend had a pool replaced in her backyard... We have a great group of friends that usually put them in for each other... this time she got the pool company to do it... Same thing..........during the winter the thing collapsed.......... Guess who put in the new one 2 weeks ago.............All of US......... still standing.......sometimes if they pull the liner too tight it cannot hold the weight of the water........ bummer but true... Find some friends and do it yourselves...LOL Ree |

Title: Re: Temper! Temper! Post by helpless23 on Jun 26th, 2004, 9:43am Thanks Ree, Tried that while it was full, tried it while it was empty..and with one of the greatest inventions to mankind too....DUCT TAPE! But it didn't work. It's just pulling down farther and farther. They are going to have to take the entire pool apart to put what they call....COPINGS on it. My husband is going there right now to get the copings and to fight with them about paying my water bill. That's a lot of water to fill once...let alone twice. I have no CLUE what copings are either. But I love when I did call the Pool place where I bought the pool, they told me "Oh, that's a common problem with those pools". So why not TELL ME THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE or give me the damn copings and tell me to tell the pool installers to put them on to begin with so this doesn't happen. I have a feeling that I'm going to have to go to the manufacturer about it. The contracter called last night and said that he called the manufacturer (I think it's bullshit) and that he was waiting for a call back. This man KNOWS my temper, he's seen and heard it last time he was here, a DAY AFTER they put the pool together and EVERYTHING was leaking. The Filter was leaking, all the hoses were leaking and ONE POPPED OUT. So when he called back for the third time when this happend with the hoses, I got so pissed off because he said we'd have to wait...I yelled (hubby was on the phone) that I wanted my f**king money back! He came within 10 minutes, and apologized to me. Then I proceeded to tell him off and told him what a crap job his guys did, how they made fun of me and my parents because my dining room table is right by my sliding glass doors to the back yard and we were bs'ing and having coffee. I said "I guess your men don't know that sound travels , because they kept calling us "The Supervisors"." Then I told him that if I wanted to stand out there and watch them for the whole day, I could...IT'S MY HOUSE AND MY MONEY THAT'S PAYING FOR THIS. Someone's going to pay big time for this, or I go to small claims court. Simple as that. But thanks Ree for the information. We have tried that, it's just too much water and they put most of the screws in crooked too, so they are hard to get out! See..there's more to the story than just the liner popping out. Ug! I could rant for DAYS about this...LOL But I won't. Toni |
