Title: Nasal strips and old age
Post by paul_b on Jun 14th, 2004, 12:53am
No snoring, no headaches since Jan. 02. Will turn 62 in July. There maybe a rainbow around the corner for you episodics. Still carry my imitrx where ever I go. No sense in being foolish. O2 tank is also at the ready. Still feel like AA---one day at a time baby. Wish the blessings of "maturity" on you all.

Nasal Strips make sence to me, I find they work. Clusters come for me mostly durning the night. People use 02 witch is used as a abortive. Buddy and I saw the strips and decide well  the strips help you breath better at night so why not. I been using them for a couple of years now. My clusters are not gone but they sure do help. Then to there are weeks I forget to wear them and thinking about it that could be why.
Hope you stay pain free many more years and your smart to still keep your meds ready.

Wow! That's great! Do you have a link to some, or the name brand? I'm willing to try it when I'm in cycle...

You know, when I use those breathing strips, I feel much better when I wake up. I don't know if they help my snoring or not, my husband says I still snore, but when I wear the strips, I wake up not feeling so tired.

When I was using stadol nasal spray for my migraines, I also used it for my cluster attacks. It never did work for the CH, and I did notice my breathing was depressed? slower? maybe.  Not enough air getting in probably, could be one reason why it didn't help the CH.

Jeep,
Breathe Right Nasal Strips, in the drug section at the grocery store, or the drugstore will carry them.

BTW Breathe Right is the best I've found.  Other brands mimic the breathe right, but you may end up tearing skin off when removing the other brands. It's importatnt you nose is  clean and oil free before applying.

This is off-topic but it reminded me that I was "addicted" to Dristan for awhile before my CH appeared.  I think you know what I mean. It was just a rebound thing. Can't believe I did that.

It's probably nothing but I try to remember things that I was doing at the time. I was also very thin and not eating very well.....ah to be young again..... :-/

Boy pd you hit the nail on the head. My wife says it doesn't help with my snoring but I always get a better sleep when I use them. I've tried the cheaper off-brands, but the breath-rights are worth the extra money IMO. Definitely important to wash your face before appying them.

I don't wear them every night, only when I'm congested, but during a cycle I wear them every night. In my case, they do nothing to prevent the attack, but when the attack wakes me up, I think it is helpful to hit the o2 with the breathing strip on, especially since I really prefer to breath through my nose.

I've also used the breathing strips when I've had colds. Breathing strips rock!
