This computer works (sometimes)

Statement of guarantee: You will be dumping and re-installing OFTEN. Without backup files, you will be screwed. This will only occur after large documents and other files have been put together but not yet backed up.

Tell me about it, I thought I had a new paper weight yesterday.

I have to pull my desk away from the window to put the window AC in, My new Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz tower is sitting on the fileing cabinet next to my desk.....I start pulling the desk back to the window after the AC is in and hear "BOOM".....I think to myself "That aint no keyboard boom".....Fucking tower took a header, DVD door is ripped off, complete top is ripped off and all I could think of was to get to the monitor to see if my family is still there.....(Yes, I need a life.....LMMFAO ;;D)

Well, Im here so it still works.....LOL

The first thing is to find out what is causing the data losing crashes, if it is the OS, then try another one. Memory is a common cause of computer woes, use memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) to make sure that the memory is good. There are also a lot of tests on the ultimate boot cd (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) including memtest86. To be sure it isn't your OS, get Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.net/) and see if everything works in another environment.

If you really want to sell it, post the specs, set a price, I really need a faster machine, I'll probably take the MB, mem, processor, HD, and any cards.

I'm sure I have made many mistakes and all corrections are welcome.

I have found that different versions of Microsoft Windows work better with different hardware, finding which one is a challenge but is worth it if you cannot just upgrade hardware.

Knoppix is great for testing hardware, and rescuing files that are on a dead OS. For anything else I find it lacking.

My new computer is a HOTTIE..............I mean 'really' !!!! Dam thing keeps overheating and PC beeps it's 'ass' off.  I clean the fan weekly. Sometimes runnin virus scans about fries it.......even a game of soliterie !!! Hore-y computer Pam  >:(
