Title: Flames - Game #6 Post by echo on Jun 7th, 2004, 10:31am Surprised that there wasn't a "Flame" thread for the missed goal in game 6. Slow motion sure looked like that sucker was in. Missed opportunity for the win. Looks like Tampa will have the momentum for the game 7 victory tonight. Sorry Margi. |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by Edski_1 on Jun 7th, 2004, 4:32pm So 1 camera angle, that is not supported by any other angle, should overrule the goal judge and referees? Plus the fact that Gelinas' foot was moving forward in a "distinct kicking motion"? More Flamefan whining just like game 4 being "stolen" from them due to the Flames not playing smart and taking bad penalties. Whatever happens tonight I'll be happy. But in no way will I ever think that game 6 was "tainted". ::) |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by thomas on Jun 7th, 2004, 4:33pm I'm sorry, but I thought that if the puck crossed the line, a goal is scored. |

I would agree that you are correct. It would, however, have been extremely difficult for a ref to catch it from any angle other than "birdseye". Even the guy who scored the goal, didn't catch it. The exception would have been if the puck was kicked in, and as it showed on another replay, it appeared as if it had been. |

I didn't know that it was kicked in, I was watching the replays in a public house, after many beers and singing many karokee songs, with no audio, all i could see was the puck going across the line. |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by Margi on Jun 7th, 2004, 4:53pm well, whatEVER.... everyone here that I know in Calgary has developed a "suck it up, Buttercup" attitude and we just move on to tonight's game. No point dwelling on something that can't be changed. I see Ken-Doll Fraser has been picked to ref tonight's game, so ... here we go again. sorry, Edski, if you consider that to be a whiny attitude. ::) edit: naw, it's best if I just stop now. p.s. to Thomas - the ABC coverage really did show the angle of the puck crossing the line. The CBC coverage wasn't so clear. Such is life. |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by echo on Jun 7th, 2004, 4:54pm More than likely it was deflected -- which would have counted. Only saw them show the replay once. Then all camera shots were on the goal line. |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by Margi on Jun 7th, 2004, 5:17pm It went off of gelinas' skates (our boy), and khabibulin's pad (the Tampa goalie) was behind the line when he kicked it back out. No one realized it happened and if they hadn't replayed the play on TV, still no one would know. Not sure if this will work, the pic is very fuzzy, but find the white highlighted square around the puck, and then find the goal line. You do the math. You can see Habby's pad as he's doing a backwards kicking motion. So yeah, it was kicked in. But not by a Flame. http://www.robbstuff.com/files/100_3359.JPG |

Title: Re: Flames - Game #6 Post by tgz23 on Jun 7th, 2004, 7:02pm The clip I saw clearly showed the puck going across the line. The Flames got screwed and I'm not even going for them. Tonights game should be awesome. May the best team win. Tim |
