Title: Mercury Post by Callico_Kid on Jun 7th, 2004, 12:14am Today at church I was speaking with a lady who has had debilitating HAs for several years, not CH. She told me that her her new Dr had tested her for mercury contamination and found quite a bit in her system. He told her that it was affecting the pituitary gland and the hypothalmus, causing digestive problems and her HAs. She asked it there might be any connection to CH. Just did a quick search and didn't find anything. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks, jc |

Title: Re: Mercury Post by UN_SOLVED on Jun 7th, 2004, 12:46am Alot of things will also cause headaches. Eating an ice cream too fast, smelling strong fumes/odors, glaring lights, ... the list goes on and on. As far as CH and Mercury contamintaion being connected...NAAA. Doctors would've been on this long ago. The information is out there about Mercury contamination. If you get this...you'll get a host of other symptoms too. "Early signs of mercury contamination include decreased sense of touch, hearing, vision and taste, a metallic taste in the mouth, fatigue or lack of physical endurance and increased salivation. Symptoms also include anorexia, numbness, paresthesias, headaches, hypertension, irritability, excitability and immune suppression and immune dysregulation (possibly leading to autoimmune disorders). In severe situations, psychosis, anemia, tremors, incoordination, renal dysfunction and renal failure are noted." SEE THIS PAGE (http://www.daleguyermd.com/pages/MercuryTesting.htm) Unsolved |

Title: Re: Mercury Post by Charlie on Jun 7th, 2004, 2:39am It would be nice to find something so simple but alas, CH has done a good job evading such things. While I think it's good to keep track of contaminants, I think we tend to overdo it. Witness the closing of playgrounds because of minute arsenic traces in paint. I've never seen a mercury connection either. Charlie |

Title: Re: Mercury Post by Paigelle on Jun 7th, 2004, 8:11am My cousin's wife suffered from mercury poisoning. She suffered for almost 6 months before they found the problem, but no headaches with it. |

Title: Re: Mercury Post by floridian on Jun 7th, 2004, 8:57am No evidence that heavy metals are the cause of clusters. They are toxic and could aggravate - that hasn't been investigated in people, but the animal studies show that low levels of heavy metals screw up the hypothalamus and circadian cycles. Not something we need more of!! Quote:
In cluster headaches, there is also a reduction in the amplitude of normal cycles - for some of these cycles, clusterheads are blunted year round. But importantly: for some hypothalamus activity, the cycles are disturbed only when the clusters are active - not in remission. This suggests that heavy metal poisoning is not the primary cause. It could be a secondary factor for some people. Quote:
Not sure how these doses translate to humans - we live longer and accumulate more over time. The last sentence in the second abstract claims that mercury can affect sleep earlier (at lower doses) - before it causes other problems usually associated with mercury poisoning. Selenium can reduce the effects of mercury somewhat in the body - it can convert free mercury to a less active microscopic 'amalgam' of sorts, but it takes time. Zinc and calcium bind other heavy metals like lead and cadmium. Selenium and zinc themselves can be toxic if overdone - don't just start gulping without doing some research. |

You have to taper off the thermometers. Quitting cold turkey may put you into withdrawals. [smiley=laugh.gif] In the guest book, several people wrote about using amonia and catshit. Maybe you could use that as a substitute. Maybe make a CS Transdermal Patch for CH. |

Be careful! The mixture stated above may be explosive in nature. Nothing worst than someone flinging shit around. |

Yes, no more "winged-feet" mixed drinks. No more chewing on the window sill in your Georgetown flat. I generally shoot at an outdoor range - better on the ears as well as less heavy metal to the lungs. I also take care when cleaning my firearms cause that is rich in lead. |
