Title: dental/nitrous oxide/CH question
Post by eyes_afire on Jun 3rd, 2004, 9:21pm
Sorry to burden y'all with a neurotic question.

Clusterheads, what is your experience with nitrous oxide... do you find it to be bad for CH?  Theoretically, it should be bad for CH, but I don't know.  Yeah, I'm a girl thingy when it comes to dentists... don't trust them.

Please help out a neurotic brother  ;;D

thanks

--- Steve

LMAO, No, no, no... I mean for dental work.  Ya know, they give you nitrous to dope ya up if they have to do dental work.

hey neurotic man,
I got a BUNCH of dental work done last year during my LONG cycle, the nitrous oxide didn't do anything to my head...unless it prolonged my cycle??  lol, j/k.
I think I asked the same question at the time too.
Good luck,
Mast

I had it at a dental office and was fine. It was after anesthesia that I had a CH attack (in the recovery room still have doped up). It was aweful !

Be careful - Be prepared with an abortive if possible. (I had Imitrex given to me)

Unsolved

Gee Eyes...

I dunno, wish I could help ya out a bit more (I hate dentists too) I have had Nitrous before but none that I can remember while in cycle....odd that.
Why not trust dentists? 10000 years of medical dentistry on the books and the best they can come up with is sandblasting or a dremel tool, a pair of really ugly pliers and some non-toxic auto body filler.....hrmmmm, no thanks, I'll just eat jello :D

Gumby....er, Ramon ;)

I've never had it thru a dentist.......always got knocked out if it was a surgical ordeal that needed sedation and it was alot of work. I've had alot of dental stuff done without anything but the novacaine deal tho.....cuz I rather not do the knock out thing unless I have to. But then the intense work was a mental trip and sorta freaked me out havein to endure that. Only had nitrix a couple times out of a balloon at a party......stupid me !!!!!! A girlfriend talked me into it.......I got a high buzz from it then lost my balance and went flying sideways and could not stop.......fell over someone.......was totally humiliated !!!!! Never did it again. If there'd bee a cliff nearby I'd of went cliff diveing ! I have a few dentists I like now.......and I do trust them. They put your well being first and impressed me. They seem'd to go out of there way to be sure you were ok. So there are good ones. Not all are Dr. Giggles Pam

Hey Steve,
I was knocked out for surgery recently just right in the middle of my cycle and was concerned also but if didnt affect me at all.  Just not sure what type of drug they gave me though.
All they said was...say goodnight...

I think you'll be fine,
Suzy

Hey Steve,

In the new office I work in we do use it nitrous, at the old office we had stoped using it a while ago. I have only been exposed to it once so far (even though we have it hooked up to  suction it still leaks), it really didn't make that much differance for me. But I only breathed in very little. And you know the saying everyone is different.
Please just make sure the Dr. regulates it not the asst.  and that you sit breathing in just O2 for at least 10 min. afterwards, let them know this ahead of time so they leave enought time for your appt. Also check to see if they are going to charge you for the use of the nitrous, most offices do ($25) and it is not coved by ins.

If you have any questions e-mail or PM me I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Becky
