Title: I am not going to let a $500 loss ruin my week end
Post by Elaine on May 29th, 2004, 9:12pm
I tell you I got a pool one of those EAST SET UP ! You know you get at ToysRus. (don't buy one). Well there is not a level spot in our yard we found out. We tried leveling it but the ground has to be perfectly level. Well the thing has cost me right at $500 now. After working every night this week on it and all day today. We gave up. I am donating it to Good will! I am buying my grandson a $20 pool and be done with it. He will be just as happy. You know what tomorrow we will do yard work then Monday we will enjoy by going to the lake what we should have done in the first darn place LOL!
Hope all is haveing a great week end :-)!

Hi Elaine,
Dave here ... on Annette's computer in Denver.
Hmm ... Can't hide anywhere these Clusters won't follow! So, tried to sleep, but here I am up again late, biding my way through another night  :-/
Before you just let $500 slip away, there are several technquies you can do to level your pool area that shouldn't run more than $50 ... only 30 more than the cheap pool!
First get your transit level out of the garage ... then ... what? Ya don't have one?!  [smiley=huh.gif] Well, in that case go get some clear plastic tubing ... maybe I better send you an E-mail Monday or Tuesday.
I imagine there are many who know where I'm heading with this method  ;)
Send me the dimensions of the area that needs to be leveled and we'll work from there!
Hang in there ...
Dave

Shoot, Caleb and I are going to the Dollar Store and getting one of the $20 pools. I figure when we get enough "Nemos" in there, he'll think it's olympic size and we'll have just as much fun.  Not to worry about him getting in over his head -- As long as he has water to spash- he's happy. And if it lasts thru summer, we'll fill it with sand -- if not we'll get another one.

Right now, my little darling is happy with the boxes my computer came in. He's using his imagination with them -- they've been race cars, boats, shopping carts, step stools, etc.  ;)

Have fun over the weekend.

Hugs BD

Sorry to hear about your pool dilemma Elaine, but definitely take Dave up on his offer - providing you haven't already got rid of it. But you're right; a kid will never know the difference, as long as they have something to splash around in, they will have fun.

Like the sandbox idea too Barb.

Peace,
Carl D

Our yard's uneven too and I wanted to get onea them pools......there's nuther one for about $ 129.00 at Walmart that is a kit with water pump and everything....decent size but figure since it is more or less inflatable it'd be flyin around the yard cuz of my cats and dam racoons rippin up everything. I was told ta get alot of sand and level 'that' for a pool tho.......ya'd need alot and not sure if you can have it deliver'd or what verses ten million bags of it. As far as the loss is concern'd......I had to have a c-section done on onea my dogs and lost one of the pups......so I'm also at a big loss this weekend about the same amount as you and sad about the loss of a pup. Lost looser Pam

I bought one of the Walmart ones once .... think it was alittle over $100....put it up, filled it up with water and the damn thing leaked ....lost all the water....so I took it back to Walmart and got my money back....Ended up putting in a big above ground pool, adding a deck...and it has been nothing but ONE big headache and a helluva lot of money.  I was able to take it off my taxes as my Doctor wrote a prescription for it due to my headaches.......MY advise...buy a $20. pool at the Dollar store and save yourself alot of stress....BTW, E, the manufacturer of the pool should reimburse your money...they paid me back for my water bill which was really high when I lost all the water due their stinking pool leaking.and Walmart reimbured me for the pool.....Good luck, nancyc

I got the $20 pool and I did get my money back.
Cootie thats the same pool they have them in different sizes. Don't get it. That pool has to be on level ground it can not be a fractions of a inch off. It has to be just right or it won't work.
JD and all of us had a good time in that $20 pool. I could have done with out JD turning the hose on me LOL.
Thanks all for the advice.
