Though not real common, it is not un-heard of.  Some experience cluster pain on both sides of the head. :-/

For 7 years, mine was always on the right side. Then suddenly without warning, they switched to the left! This left me and my neuro puzzled. Since then, it switches sides every now and then. Currently they are on the left side, but I can still get attacks on the right side. Weird huh?
There seems to be no rhyme or reason with the beast. Everytime I get a new med that works, it's like the CH beast gets wise to it and mutates.
There have been times where I'll get hit brief at a level 5 or 6 on the left side, and soon afterward I'll get hit full force 10 on the right side, almost like one is a precursor to the other. Not sure if anybody else's act wacko like this.

Peace,
Carl D

I've had 2 cycles on the left side over the past 13 yrs. The wierd thing is that when I cycled on the left my HAs were always longer (1.5-2 hr average) versus my "normal" 30-60 minutes for the right side. Intensity didn't change, just the duration.

I agree with jonny too ... just one side getting a break.

I was confused when the same thing happened to me but I was told by several people here that it does happen some times.

I have them on my right side.  On the rare occasion that I get struck on the left, it feels so wierd I almost don't know how to handle it.  You know how it is when you are used to getting hit in one place all the time, you kind of brace for it and can take a stronger hit and then when it switches sides, you aren't prepared for it, so it seems to hurt worse!

I hate having them at all, but I REALLY hate it when it decides to strike on the left.

Only twice since the 70's has the SOB changed sides on me.  I'm just thankful he hasn't camped out behind both at the same time.

I have always gotten them on both sides, that's how I know a cycle is half over...it will switch sides midway through my cycle...like Jonny said, its like getting a break.  I think "double siders" are like .0005% of the CH population.

Mine switched sides back in February, but only for a few days.  Seemed to hurt a lot worse, the nerve endings seemed really raw....like they weren't broke in yet.

I hated it, never could get my ice pack and hand adjusted to the other side.  Just felt wrong.

Must be cause I made you laugh Rox....delayed reaction to NY in July?????????

Linda

P.S.  Being chronic it really sucks for it to change sides cause I'm thinking, "maybe this means it will go away"  Nope.     It means nothing.  Nada.  Zilch.   I've switched sides now several times.

Trust me on this: It isn't fun at all.
I have had the displeasure of getting hit on BOTH sides AT ONCE! It has happened only a few times, but when it does, it is literally like having my head in a vise, squeezing so hard my eyes might pop out.
Another fun time is when I have a ferocious migraine (can't move I'm in so much pain) and then get a cluster on TOP of that. That has only happened a few times as well, and you talk about wanting to die.

Peace,
Carl D

Mine are on both sides. I know which side will be hit because one side of one eyeball gets red. Then I know that eye and side will be hit.  If I get hit on the left, which is my current cycle, the next time may be on the left. Or it may be on the right. Freakin CH's.
