Well it seems to be a time for sending vibes around the world....and I need a few.

My "twin" needs vibes. Robert, my favorite brother and twin in spirit, needs healing vibes. He is having problems with his heart and they putting him under on Friday. This is only for the test where they inject dye into his heart but as his condition is serious this is a high risk. He'll be 27 on June 7th, and we're hoping he'll be "fixed" before then. Him and I are 10 months apart and very close, so if i'm rambling forgive me.

I'm flying to the States on Thursday to be with him during the procedure. Any healing vibes would be greatly appreciated, so if you can spare a few send them to Austin, Texas. As I have a lot of loose ends to tie up before I fly out, I wish you all a PF weekend. I'll check up when I can.

I've had the procedure you're talking about. It is, for all intents and purposes, painless. They just insert a tube in the femoral artery in the upper leg and run it up to the heart. I even got to watch the monitor as they injected the dye. It was cool to watch the dye go through the vessels around my heart. In my case, there was nothing wrong, I pray the same for Robert.

Well, the news isn't good. They think Robert has MSA (multiple systems atrophy). I've done a little research, and most of the websites i've seen gives him 7 years. I''m still researching. The doctors are going to do more tests next friday to confirm their diagnoses, I hope to hell they're wrong.

I work in an open heart unit and wonder what that term means. We do not use it here. I have seen hearts completely renovated (my own description) including aortic valve and mitral valve replacement at the same time and in some cases with the "maze" proceedure and bypasses.....all on the same heart at the same time. I have seen these people go home walking in 5 days. I don't mean to make light of heart surgery...I just have total respect for our heart surgeons. We have one of the best teams in the country. Heart surgery is a very scarey thing and a person needs plenty of education and reassurance before he/she goes under.

Do they mean that along with the heart, he has other comprimising problems, like kidney failure, a lung problem or perhaps Diabetes?

it pretty much means that it's not really his heart causing the problems. It means that he has multiple system problems, muscular, nervous, circulatory, usually caused by deteriation of the brains cells. His dizziness and fainting are just a symptom. If he does have a form of MSA, depending on the form, his entire body will slowly degrade overtime and he will die within 7-12 years.

His diagnoses is not certain as yet and he has more testing on Friday. For now the doctors have put in him on a high salt diet and requested he smoke more to get his blood pressure up. I'm hoping the doctors are wrong and that the tests on friday show that he has something curable.
