Title: Iowa Waves
Post by Kevin_M on May 22nd, 2004, 5:16pm
Who out in Iowa is making these waves across the Midwest.  Here in Detroit we have been hit with nothing but thunderstorm and tornado warnings all month.  The ground is so saturated here it's hard to find a day to cut the grass.  Flood warnings yesterday.  We are approaching record levels of rain for the month with nine days to go.
They come floating across Illinois and Wisconsin and are smacking us one after another.  I saw a weather map and there's still more on the way toward us and Ohio.  Nothing but lightning, rain, and tornado warnings.
What's going on over in Iowa????

I am getting soooooo sick of the rain.  We are supposed to have like, only 1 day of no rain in our area, then it's back to the wet stuff for 3 straight days.  *sigh*  Damn you Iowa, damn you to hell!!!

Its not just Iowa USA either!
North Island of NZ is getting hammered with rain too.
My horses' paddock is a lake - have to swim out to feed them - well, I will if it doesn't stop raining soon!
CUT the grass? Wow.  Can't even see it!!
Sunny days to all

Yeah, it's similar here too, that's why this weather not changing is so...different.  It's just that these are all strong storms, not any rainshower.  I'm picking up fallen branches from my trees almost everyday.  Never seen such lightning since I lived in Houston.  That lightning though seemed to come straight down whereas here it streaks across the sky.
Our motto here in MI is: If you don't like the weather, wait an hour, it'll change.

We're on tornado watch right now again, for the second time today.

Nothing better to report here. Pretty much the same thing...nly good thing is the lake's water levels will be up....bad thing is I can't get enough of a window to mow the lawn or go fishin. Not supposed to improve much all week either.

I have heard of sun sightings there, but the Hollywood tabloids here just stopped reporting it.  Even they know the public here is not that gullable.

Lucky days for you!  You Englanders do deserve some of the sun that you've heard actually can shine daily. Good to hear the sunny news.   :)

Now, I was wondering where all the Texas tornadoes and storms went.  [smiley=huh.gif]

What are y'all doing with our storms and tornadoes up there?

We need that rain and Roxy likes to take pics of those tornadoes.

Please send 'em south!  It was 92 yesterday and humid and we are very dry.

Don't it feel good. I got my first sunburn of the season last Christmas.

In Massachusetts that itching is called frost bite.  ;)

Nope. There was one time in March 1999 that I didn't.

And speaking of threads...........they were all invented

somewhere else.

But aloe was invented in Vegas.

We broke the rainfall record for the month of May already.  Four tornado touchdowns yesterday, about 400,000 without electricity.  Heavy storms today, hail, and tornado and flood warnings only today.  Got some branch sawing to do by garbage day.  Okeedokie.

Nope. Looks like Britannia really does rule the waves. Enjoy. ::)

I haven't see this much rain in 5 years. Seeing an ark wouldn't have surprised me. 10 leaks in my basement... >:(

Never think of severe weather in New Zealand. Fall is cool I bet. I'm there.  8)

Hey Iowa etal, south Florida needs rain. We're under a wildfire watch here. It seems the rainy season has been delayed by sunshine and easterly winds. Send the rain, mebe some t storms but definetly keep the twisters. There are too many twister magnets (known to some as mobile homes) here.
