I'm not a person who gets pissed off very easy but the shit that happened on my computer at work this morning is worthy of a public ass kicking.

If anybody knows who is responsible for the gay/sick/weirdo/deviant shit that kept popping up on my system this morning, I would like to know who it is.

I guarantee that he is not the only person who knows how to hack shit. The only difference is that it will only be his system that gets screwed up.

don't even give him prop's for being able to 'hack', he just found a lame web script on the Internet and posted it, it is called a script kiddie and it is position lower than dirt in the computer science community

I know what it is that he did. I also know WHO did it. I do realize that he is just a little peon with a vandetta against this web site. It doesn't make me happy though when this kind of shit comes up on my work computer.

I have to deal with this same shit every day.
I also work in the computer field.

I'm responsible for keeping the script kiddies out of over 200 public computer systems for the Library. I think it's even harder trying to keep our highly educated staff from letting their systems get screwed up.

At this point, isn't this something that could be turned in to a legal issue?

Everybody here knows who did it. I'm sure that there are people here including myself who could easily track this kid down.

I say we call the authorities and turn this guy in. Or, we could just take care of him our selves.

You may no more about how to do that than I do if you deal with it everyday.

If he is not a experienced hack, DJ can report him to his ISP via the ip address, but he may have jumped a couple of addresses before posting here.

Someone I think had the best solution in another thread, 'don't feed the trolls'

I lost business Email, all of my bookmarks, and had to completely set up my browsers again.   >:( This shit was completely uncalled for. The karma he reaps from this will not be pretty... I feel sorry for him.

My plan is first update, then to reboot into safe mode and have spy bot run an advanced scan.  If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be happy to listen....

We have a registered version of Ad-Aware that we use to keep a lot of garbage cleaned up.

The free version is pretty good too.

I have no idea what anyone is talking about, but it seems far fetched to point fingers at one particular person for doing whatever was done.

That would not really help.  It's easy to get an email that is untraceable.  My email is internationalmanofmystery@hush.ai. I have corresponded with maybe a dozen people here who know my other email and/or my postal address,  but this case reminds me of one of the many reasons why I don't like sharing information on the internet.   Another reason is spam, which can make an email account useless if the address is published.  The webmaster has email addresses for everyone, even if the public doesn't.  And was that 4 am phone call that woke me this morning a coincidence??  

In the long run, any large community is going to have issues like this.  Concepts like Identity and Privilege have very little to do with having someones email.  A web of trust develops over time, and if you are going to restrict privilege (like the ability to post) it should be based on more than an email.

I haven't seen any of this crap everyone is talking about....yet.  Don't think I want to.  As far as tracking someone, even having their ip address logged isn't a sure thing.  There are numerous programs out there that can spoof an ip address for someone who wants to be anonymous.

I'm having one wonderful time trying to explain myself at work right now.  I was showing a co-worker this great site as it relates to the CH problems I've been having.  I opened a message and I swear that at this point, I have no freakin' idea which one it was but holy cow - I truly wanted to crawl under my desk and die.

The sound was oh so loud, people came running to see what had happened and there I sat, all 61 years of me, trying my damndest to get this atrocity off my computer and trying to convince my laughing co-workers that porn is not something I'm in the habit of watching!

I finally got rid of it by simply turning my machine off and hoping like hell that it didn't re-surface.  How can I be sure I don't open something like this again?

Bring to me the person responsible for this one.  Give me just 10 minutes alone with them!  Better idea - give them to Jonny!!!!  I'll bet he could do an even better job of letting them know just how wrong this was!

Dont worry I felt the same way.... At least I do not have speakers at work.  That was the only saving grace. But my boss is very mormon and this did not lend itself to "How to Empress others."

I ran Spyware and Ad-Aware last nite. Found 15 spybots and 6 adbots, which I removed. I've got a pretty good firewall, and I haven't noticed anything unusual.  Hopefully I won't.
