Hey Charlie,

Mine came in as a pm, I went to open it but didn't click it when it said gay porn, but it opened anyway now I can't get rid of it. If I go to open my mail it will pop up.

I am pissed. Yup, I clicked on my Instant Messages here and it was a major pop-up frenzy about abortion and tried to crash my puter. DO NOT check your IM's or click on ANYTHING by GNAA (like Charlie said). I think DJ is gonna have to fix this and hopefully get to the bottom of whoever that fucker is and ban his ass. >:(

I think the site has been cracked, They are some how relinking to anouther site when you click on the thread. It killed my Mozilla running on Linux so it is not a windows thing. I did get to see a really bad picture and heard some yelling. If you are at work this could get you fired! especially if they make it work right.

Obviously it's either one of them. Boy Scout/Freddy was in chat last night under a fake name, wouldn't tell anyone who he was, which just figures. Since he seems to have a vendetta against those of us who were in chat, he has targeted also my IM. Well, whatever, guess some people never grow up. ::)

Disabling Java helps but doesn't stop the redirect.

So far the only Browser this redirect works correctly in is Opera, but please only try this at home with the volume turned down.

The IM's weren't just directed at chat users...I got one and I wasn't in chat. Perhaps it was thrown at all who posted in opposition to him.

I posted this in another thread, but just for you all to know, I googled GNAA and came up with this...

Read the description carefully and you may see it reads very much like what is happening here.

If it is actually that group attacking the site, it may not be Boy_Scout or Freddy unless they have a friend involved with it.

DJ will have to clean up the mess I guess, it is unfortunate.

I think DJ disabled scripts, you will notice you can also click GNAA's posts and just see the script text

Hey John,

No worries ... we were just thinking the same thing at the same time. The problematic link embedded in GNAA's post was just a link to a Flash file that must have the redirect garbage embedded. No hacking ... no cracking ... just a simple embedded link to a screwy Macromedia flash file.

However, the fix on DJ's end is not that simple. A general pl script parser for malicious code wouldn't have picked up that embedded problem. Long term fix is to take out immediate loading of flash (& maybe other file types) but the quick fix is disable all scripting so we may have to do without smilies for a while ... I bet Den is smiling right now!

It looks like the work of a troll,

they used the embedded flash tag to send a redirect to you browser.
This sort of attack can probably be defeated by disableing embedded flash movies from posts.
