Now what should I have done?

I was shopping at the local market a few days ago when I saw something that made my blood run cold. My market has these kiddie carts with enclosed car thingies on the front where little kids can sit while mommy shops. They even have little steering wheels to keep the kids occupied. But this little guy had something else to occupy him, a plastic bag, the flimsy kind that you find in the produce section. He had it pulled down over his head and I was ready to hobble over there when he took it off. So I let it go. BTW, she was blonde. In retrospect, I was being bllonde too, aand appoligies to all my blonde friends, didn't mean you. Yeah.

I woulda walked over to the kid and pulled it off his head myself. If the mom would have started bitchin at me, I would have told her he could die from suffication. If she would have further complained, you would have seen me get REALLY pissed. ;;D

edited to add: ok, I must have glanced over the part about him taking if off, but like Tia, I STILL would have took it away from him.

I cring everytime I see a little kid playing with a balloon. They want to blow them up.

They put the balloon to their mouth, take a deep breath and............

inhale the balloon. Suffacation is a nasty thing.

I know little ones love balloons but please don't let them play with them. Give them a big rock or something that won't fit in their mouth.

Oh hell no. I still would have walked up and taken the bag away from him even if he had taken it off. Parents need to be responsible and know what the ehll their kids are doing- I use those carts all the time, but it is not a damn baby sitter that means that you can ginore you kids... OMG I could not even imagine how pissed off I wouls be.

No Brainer man take the bag away from the kid and put it over the moms head!!!

Should have said something to the Mother. That baby is her responsibility. A baby is ALWAYS more important than shopping. Tell her to look at him once in a while and make sure he's not killing himself.

I know it looks stupid and ignorant when you see something like this. Your 1st reaction is probably to slap the Mother, but being a parent of a very active and very imaginative 3 year old, I know how quick they can get into some really bad situations.

Please don't flame me over this response. I'm not making excuses for the Mother or trying to donwplay this but I know how kids are as I'm sure most of you do.

This Mother DOES need to keep a better eye on her child and maybe leave him with a sitter while she is pre-occupied with shopping or shop the same way we do. My wife and I both go. I keep an eye on my daughter while my wife takes care of the shopping.
