OK ... OK, so I'm a couple of days early - so what!

Bring on the lefse but y'all can trash the lutefisk (BTW "lutefisk" I believe is loosely translated from Norwegian as "watch what I can get this unsuspecting tourist to eat" ) Always a good time for the family to be had in Stoughton (the sister city of Gjovik).

Ya know, it is so weird to see the names of towns II am familiar with and that I've been to on here... We're definately going to have to have a WI meet and greet soon. :)

Syttende Mai is the 17th of May, Norway's Constitution day (national holiday not unlike 4th of July). I wished them congratulations on the day in Old Norse/Icelandic.

Thank you for explaining Floridian. I have some Norweigen blood in me, but have no idea about their holidays & customs, so it's always neat to find out about this stuff.

I concure with the WI meet and greet. And for it to be soon with the warm weather aproaching. I've had lefse, home made, and it was terrific, but I agfree keep the other stuff. Just the smell makes me wanna gag.

Children all dressed up, eating all sort of bad American food, parades with oom-pa-pa bands...and grownups overspending...all to celebrate you Constitution!!

Lefse. I love that stuff. Do you know how hard that is to find in Kansas? When I ask for it the staff looks at me like I'm nuts. I agree - you can keep the lukefisk. Rates right up there with Hog Brain Blood Cheese. [smiley=hurl.gif]
