as i sit here today in the dark with this violence racing thru my head i started to wonder about accupucture. being a newly diagnosed "headbanger" member, i am not new the accupuncture scene. i have chronic back pain from mutiple(over 13) back surgeries(thats just my back) alone and have used accupucture to help in getting some relief from that pain. i have permanant nerve damage so i will always have pain that is a given. i called my dr ofc to get refill for imitrex..he is out for the week and with my medical history they wont give me another rx...WTF?? anyway i will deal with that when he gets back til then its prednisone only and the beast will continue to reign...but just was curious if anyone has tried the accupuncture route?

Hey Daffy,

Sounds like yer name is new round here. Welcome.

Accupuncture as Jonny said has been discussed on CH.com over the years many times. I think its safe to say that little people get relief for their CHs.

Though for the other pains you mention I see accupuncture as a good treatment. I have had it twice before and it made me feel like I do when I get a message. Really good!

As far as the Imitrex issue. It is a toughy. This is why so many people opt for oxygen. Health insurance (if you have it), are very STINGY as to how much they will give you, due to it's cost. I had a doctor write an override letter, and now I can get 6 shots per month. Yippee!!!

If you are getting attacks 4-6 times/day or something, you simply can't do Imitrex. I mean the injections. injections are effective for MOST of us vs. nasal or oral. Also, Imitrex is a Triptan and they have some effects on your heart, which makes it a little dangerous, so they only recommend you do no more than 2 shots per day (though I have heard clusterheads say they have done more than 2).

Read about oxygen, if you havent already tried it. Lots of info here.

Welcome aboard and no. Accupuncture is useless for this horror. Our old friend Ueli used to say it better but in short: Don't spend time or money on it. Vigorous exercise, lots of water, and perhaps this techinque may be some help:
