Title: Ch flew right out of my head!!! Terrible!
Post by helpless23 on May 3rd, 2004, 10:14am
Hi guys,

I'm such a terrible person!  In the last 2 weeks, I forgot all about Ken's CH and I forgot to tell him to take his pill one night and last night he said he thought he was getting a headache!

This weekend, my son almost passed out because his blood sugar was so low, I had to go shopping for food for him because he was out and on a very strict diet, I had to call the Dr. and get YET ANOTHER different opinion as to whether to send him back to school or not because he's not stabalizing with the Insulin - our furnace broke and it's going to cost over 2800 dollars just for the furnace and my mother is in the hospital now and my father is all alone and won't come up to stay with me!!!!!
All within 2 days!

Besides the last 2 weeks.  Is this NOT my year or something? First the CH with Ken, then my son get's diabetes - then my furnace breaks (thank God it wasn't in December/January or August), no heat, no air conditioning and my mother goes in the hospital because she's so stressed out over my son being sick and I can't even get there!

WHAT'S GOING ON?! 2004 was supposed to be my year!

Now I don't know because Ken missed his one dose of Verapamil, and that he felt like he was getting a headache last night, if that is going to screw up the pain free days he's been having!

Anyone have a clue?

I need to clean up my act a little bit and take care of EVERYONE.  I need a good log book - like 2 of them.

UGGGG....

I'm very frustrated. Thanks for listening.

Love you guys,

Toni

Life is messy for you right now, helpless.... but you are not helpless!

Everyone has limits - how much they can handle....

So you forgot a few things.... start writing them down (I'm doing the same).  Did you know there's an actual stress disorder (short-term, it goes away) - I was diagnosed with it last year - called Accumulated Stress Syndrome..... hmmmm.... sounds like you might have A.S.S. (what kind of name is THAT??)  :o

Take things one day at a time.... or one hour, or even one minute.... try not to worry about what will / might happen, just deal with the moment until you're through this.

My thoughts are with you, helpless..... you can handle this!!

For as much as you have going on, I would have a tough time with it. :(  But just take things one at a time, take a deep breath once in awhile, if Ken does get a HA, hopefully it will only be temporary. Your mom is in good hands, can your dad manage for a few days on his own?
You just worry about your son.   :)  Everything else will fall into place and be ok.

With all you have going on right now, couldn't you delegate responsibilities and tell Ken to remember to take his own meds?

Just a thought.

I would agree with Linda . . .now, in the event that that is a bit hard to do . . they have those little pill-caddy thingies .. where you can put the week's supply (all sepereated by day of the week) . . .you could fill it once a week . .and tell him . .here's your medicine . . sit it next to his chair, the bedstand, the toothbrush .. .where ever he goes everyday . . .remind him a couple of times, and he should be good to go . . .besides, you're empowering him when you do this *s*
for you . . .I'm sorry you're getting whacked so hard . . .take care of your baby . . . and yourself.

Missing one verapamil will not do anything, Verapamil takes days to build in the body and takes days to lower the levels. If he misses one again he should not double up when he takes the next one, just forget about it and take the next one when he is suppose to.

Remember, I am not a Doctor, but, I have been taking Verap for over a decade.

Hold up there woman. Take off the gold bra and put away the bullet bouncing braclets. You are not Wonder Woman and you are going to burn yourself out.  Take a deep breathe.  Stop trying to do everything.  Like everyone else has said. Take it a day at a time. Hell a minute at a time. You are spinning in circles, so wonder you feel lost. It will all come together, but you can not be responsible for everyone else, if you are not together.  Trust me, we are here and we understand.

It will all work out.

Lord woman, give yourself some room - you've got a ton on your plate.

I expect your hubby is a big boy now and he can likely take ownership of his own med requirements.  Seems you have enough to worry about with your son and your mom.

Funny, how as women, we do tend to baby our men - I have been known to do the same thing with cardiac medications for my ol' fart too, but eventually something has to give and responsibilities need to be shared.

You are due for a "me" day - I hope you find a way to have one.

Thanks for the support guys.

IT's not that I have to tell Ken "Take your pill" and physically give it to him, but I do have to remind him.

He is the one getting up at 3 AM every morning taking my son's blood sugar and usually having to wake him up, give him some juice and something to eat, then stay up and go right to work - only to return home around 5 or 5:30PM. So it's hard on him too.

I guess it's to be expected, and I guess the only thing that we can do is cope with this disease (both diabetes and CH) and handle it the best way we know how.

Tackle it head on - be strong and get this thing under control and try not to let it control us.

Feeling like Wonder Woman is just part of my nature - but I love the idea of the bullet dodging bracelets. :-)

Thanks for the support, I've taken your advice on the sticky notes - and strategically placed them so I don't have to ask everynight if he remembered to take his pill. Also, he took some to work - so that should help.

I'm just fried I guess and wanted to vent.
Thanks for listening.

Anglefire will not allow pics to be linked from their sites. You need to post it on a different site and link it from there.
