Binary is base2 and is closest language to computers.  We humans work with the base 10 system.  There is also a base 16 system called Hexidecimal.  Which computers also will work in.  The ones and zeros stand for switches being on or off and it gets alot more complicated than that.  But it is fun once you know it.  It is fundamentals 101 for computer programming.

OK, NO more dashes between the hex numbers, my converter (http://nickciske.com/tools/hex.php) can't handle them and I have to delete alot, and NO I will not look up ASCII tables, that's what puters are for.

Cathi,

When you type the letter on your key board it gets converted to the binary code determined by ASCII, and it remains that way until it gets converted back to symbols at your monitor, just in case you wanted to know.

Lizzie,
Yes, there is not much else to do with this head of mine.

with a masters degree in computer science, I developed an algorithm to decipher your binary code into ascii characters and I came to the analytical conclusion that you guys are a bunch of friggin geeks  ;;D

I remember in college the computer science department had a get together in front of the student union, I saw the 'crew' as they joked about what sort algorithm they would use to find the best looking girl on campus.  It was truly embarrasing.  So of course, I interrupted and told him that a 'quick sort' was the way to go.  8)

(0100111)  1 = +, 0 = -.  If counting the sequence counts from the right with each digit representing twice that of the preceeding digit.  The parranded binary number would equal 78. (1000000 = One hundred twenty eight) (0000001 = 2)

Coding can be used for multiple purposes = concentrators for communications cycle with 8 digits representing one data flow, duplex 24 seperate data flows of eight digits, sampled at 8,000 times per second.  Using the 4th sample of the 8th data flow as a -will tell you if the door is open on a Midwic concentrator.

Eight 0's in a row is a violation of the binary 8 zero surpression.

Eight 0's in a row will put a T1 repeater to sleep.

Eigh 1's in a row is a violation of Alternate Mark Inversion for certain repeaters and concentrators as well.  Most buffers are designed to take the least significant digits and turn it to a 0 to avoid system crash.

There you go Mel -- Now you can be dangerous.

modified to get rid of a smiliey face that keeps appearing.  Damn binary coding.

Mel, your from WI.  The best psychologists in the world came from U of WI in the 50's through the 70's due to being the students of the head of the department there for 42 years.  He loved monkeys and learned to cure whatever conditions they arrived in this country in and whatever conditions they were submitted to in experiments.  One man singlehandedly rocked the world from the vestiges of the stranglehold of the then dominantly accepted school of thought.  Unprecidented courage in the face of ridicule.  Put them all down for the count.

Donna, that was ment to be easy,
If you asked for 10 hints, I could only give you 2, but you would have to cut it into groups of 8.

I can't figure out the other code, I ran it through some code breakers but didn't get any thing out of it.

Opus,  It is not an encryption and I think I was playing within the rules of this thread.  There are even tools on the web to solve it, just like the binary and hex.  John
