Title: CH.com Newb.. CH Vet Post by Stibs on Apr 27th, 2004, 1:50am Hello all. This is my first post on this sight although I've been coming here for the past couple of years for support and advice. I am a 31 year old musician and I've had CH's for about 16 years now, currently in the middle of my cycle. I am amazed by how many people you can find on this and the OUCH site, yet out in the real world I barely know anyone (including a few doctors i've visited) that have even heard of Cluster Headaches. Anyway, I look foward to corresponding and sharing support with ya all. And I do have a question.. I just returned from the Urgent Care with Imitrex Nasal Spray 20mg. I have yet to try it. Tried the pill several years ago with no results. I am curious to hear anyone elses experience with it, and which is supposed to be better spray vs injection. (Doctor didn't have a damn clue) I am an occasional smoker so that does concern me a bit. Thanks! |

Title: Re: CH.com Newb.. CH Vet Post by Kevin_M on Apr 27th, 2004, 1:58am Welcome, Injectable, or however it is now best delivered intravenously, seems to be the fastest acting if imitrex works for you. Nasal spray is convenient to use and carry but if not caught at the onset, grab an icepack and be prepared for distorted vocabulary. Works though too. Kevin M |

Title: Re: CH.com Newb.. CH Vet Post by Linda_Howell on Apr 27th, 2004, 2:03am If you've been coming here for several yrs. Why is this your first post? ah, nevermind... Imitrex nasel spray as opposed to the injections. They both work. Injections are costlier because they work faster. Nasel spray works. About 20 mins after you've lost your mind from the pain. (kidding but it does take longer) quit smoking because it isn't good for you but if you took a survey here...OMG!!!!! they have !!!!! smoking? [smiley=smokin.gif] Linda |

Title: Re: CH.com Newb.. CH Vet Post by Lizzie2 on Apr 27th, 2004, 2:13am Welcome to you, What kind of musician are you? I'm a classical pianist. Music is great! Though not during intense head pain!! (At least not in my opinion...seems some people love listening to the music louder, then!) The only imitrex I ever tried was the injections, but I can't use them because side effects for me were dangerous to the heart. Guess you really won't know which works best for you until you give it a shot! (or a spray? hehe) Glad you finally decided to post! Lizzie |

Title: Re: CH.com Newb.. CH Vet Post by Turts on Apr 27th, 2004, 4:13am For me in Kangarooland, it depends on the size of ya bank account. Niether method is cheap, but the injection is about 5 times more!!! I use the nasal spray simply because it works!! So it gets the thumbs up from me. Welcome aboard. Turts |
