my mother is my biggest supporter of my life in dealing with ch. now she needs me, and there is nothing i can do to help her but pray, and ask for your prayers. may of 2003 my mother had a urostomy. since that time she has had 9 more abdominal surgeries. she has set up an infection of mrsa everytime they opened her up. she has worked maybe 2 or 3 months since may. today she found out that her job had been eliminated, and she has surgery planned again for the first week in may, and her insurance will be cancelled the 1st day of may. she is very close to the end of her rope. prayers for her are needed to help her body mind and spirit heal.

Wow...how did she get MRSA every time, if you don't mind my asking? That really sucks :( Prayers and vibes on the way

I thought there was some law against canceling someones insurance to avoid paying for a prescheduled needed operation. I'm probably wrong.

I'm not any good with the legal aspects but is there anyway the doc can speed up the surgery date so it is cover'd by insurence for her ? Or doesn't it work that way ? Hope it all works out for her and she gets things paid for and gets herself BETTER !!!! All good things for her she needs to happen vibes sent.......good luck ! Pam with the vibe gun loaded

Pinky, if your mom is employed the first day of the month, she should be covered for the full month (but she will need to check this out with her employer). Also, EVERYONE is eligible for cobra when they loose their job, so she should also check in to this. With cobra you have to pay for the full insurance coverage that you had with your employer (it's actually the exact same plan). Since your mom has a pre-existing condition, she really wants to make sure that her insurance does not lapse. A new insurance policy (with a break where she had no insurance coverage) may leave her in a position of having to wait 6 months for any medical coverage to kick in due to the pre-exisiting condition. If there is no lapse in insurance, and you merely switch plans, this usually does not apply.
