Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by Gator on Apr 21st, 2004, 9:01pm Radio on the Intenet - please. I can barely get Internet on the Internet. I live so far out of town and the phone lines suck so bad that I cannot get cable modem or DSL and my dialup speed maxes out on a good day at 26.4k. It takes forever just to go from page to page on this simple MB. Thank God DJ didn't decide to make a board cluttered up with enhanced graphics. Gator |

Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by Opus on Apr 21st, 2004, 9:53pm Jonny, I didn't give it a thought, I can't get it to play anyway, guess I need some more codets for Mplayer.. Gator, try Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) it lets you block all pictures not from the site your looking at, and you can even block all pictures on the site. It would be good to use just for those sites that are slow. Opus/Paul |

Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by cootie on Apr 22nd, 2004, 12:25am I'm in the same boat with yu Gator......all I have is slow dialup here and usually only connected at a whooping speed of 26.4 kbps........some days it takes me 5 minutes to get a page to load......I got the radio station to play but it only lasts about 10 seconds then has to rebuffer a few minutes. Can't really get into anything like the live music stations when it has to do that constantly non stop....irritateing as hell. I can get the faster service thru my satillite dish cable for $ 69.99 a month tho.....hey what a deal. (highway internet robbery) Pam doin an internet rant and rave dance to rebuffering interruptions |

But I dont recognize most on the program guide. Gonna have to listen more. Saved it ... will listen - Thanks. tina |

Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by BobG on Apr 22nd, 2004, 7:45am Playing the radio on the internet.......hmmmm. Interesting concept. Now if only Cox will wire my car with cable....hmmmm I drive 20 miles to work......how big is a spool of cable 20 miles long? Maybe if I want to hear the radio I'll just turn on the radio! ;;D The other day I bought a new wrist watch. Lots of cool games, slick graphics, FM digital radio, global tracking. It even has phone number to call to get the time. 8) |

Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by Edski_1 on Apr 22nd, 2004, 8:30am There's atremendous amount of resistance to change, but the internet will force a rethink in many industries... Radio/TV-Broadcasting in general Newspapers/Magazines Retail/Customer Services Where it all ends up is anyone's guess. No way that radio wants to become a sub set of TV broadcasting...or that Broadcast TV wants to be swalled up by Cable...or that the Phone Companies want to be swalled by the internet. But... Too many innovative people will keep using the internet for more and more things, and many of the functions of these industries will start to overlap, and some industries become either just obsolete, or be so redundant that the inevitable combination of some will just sort of "happen"... Just MHO. :) |

Title: Re: Radio and the Internet Post by BobG on Apr 22nd, 2004, 8:50am Yep. Won't be long until every type of communication and entertainment and every job is internet connected. Then some idiot will trip over the plug and the world will go into complete blackness. ;) |
